I was reading about the ear hair and am now wondering if this is more or less common?  Do most of you have to do that and how often?  Is that something weekly, monthly? etc.  I guess a lot will depend on the dog.  I have never had a dog with hair IN its ear like that.  Looked fairly simple if it needs done though.  I was surprised how easy the hair seemed to pull right out.

THanks, I was just reading another thread in the grooming about it.  I guess it's fairly common and something I'll keep my eye for like you said.  As needed basis.  Everyone has said to rub their paws and ears from puppyhood on so I guess that will be the most important thing early on.
I start ear plucking at 7 or 8 wks so the pups have had that experience before they leave here. Usually every 6 to 8 weeks is plenty but different dogs have different amounts of hair and that needs to be taken into consideration.
Darwin has curly inner ear hair and it does need to be plucked. We should do it once or twice per month or so but we are bad and it's more like every 2 months.
When you say "PLUCK"...do you mean like with tweezers?  Is it one at a time?  You say it doesn't hurt them...it hurts like heck if I pluck my eyebrows!!!!

I use the TEP powder on Murphy and have since he was a pup as recommended by our breeder. It is mostly now to help me with pulling the hair out as it really increases the grip with either fingers or tweezers. I can;t reach the really deep ones and he will pull away if I dig too far in. He has had ear infections most of his 26 months of life so he is also tolerant, but very gun shy when it comes to my putting things, like tweezers in there. I do a little at a time so it seems like it needs to be done frequently as I never get bald ears at one time. Don't think bald is the term, maybe completely hairless would be better.

I think some doodles have lots of ear hair, some have less, some have none.  Charlotte has lots which I pull out little by little when I notice it.  Webster doesn't seem to have hair inside his ears, just outer fuzz.
My 2 doodles are quite different.  Ayla does'nt seem to mind getting her ear hair pulled. I use the dry ear powder 1st.  But my Storm- he absolutely hates it, i can tell! It hurts him!  He makes a noise everytime i pull hair out!  Maybe he's more sensitive?  my poor doggy!
