Hi everyone! We've had our double doodle, Mattie, home for 3 weeks now and it's been wonderful. She's a little ball of love and energy! Are there any things you all can think of that are specific to NAR's that I might not know about from my research in doodles that you'd tell a new NAR owner? Anyone in the Seattle area with a younger DD that would be interested in a little play date? We're working on socializing with other dogs who are at about the same level of vaccinations. Thanks!
So, there is a new development. We went to the breeders house this morning (close friends of ours) to rub our daughter with the puppy again. I was wearing a navy blue shirt on my way to the gym. The breeders had just given the puppies a bath the night before. After holding our puppy I was covered in hair. My daughter also had a slight reaction on her arm and got just a little bit stuffy. The person that bought the first dog from the litter (the other runt, but a girl) that had been sold a few weeks ago changed her mind so that dog became available again. I picked up that dog and rubbed her all over my shirt...no hair...no shedding. The little guy we were going to get was shedding like crazy. After discussing it with the breeders we have decided it would be much safer to go with the little girl that was not shedding. We had gotten a little attached to the little guy, but we want to do what will be best in the long run for my daughter and dog. So, with a week and a half before getting our dog we changed and are getting the one that will more likely have less shedding/allergy issues.
Here is a picture.
perfect looking doodle litter all the coat types seem to be there. The breeder we sophie from has that color down to a science most if not all the puppies they had this year were her color or very close. Fingers crossed she doesnt go poof and lighten up a ton.
What a cure puppy ans such a unique color. The siblings are all so different. There is one that is a big white one that is just a big fluffy ball. There are a couple with very wavy coats and several that had a coat similar to Sophie.
Not the best picture but here is a picture of the litter at 3 weeks.
That sure is interesting. I was atleast thinking one of the parents would be a flatter coat type. How fluffy are his litter mates here is what sophie looked like at 3 weeksand at 5 weeks
and 7 weeks the day we brought her homenow sophies dad is a nar and her mom is a standard chocolate poodle. her father has a ton of hair and so does she.
Hope this one is a better one of the Dad.
He is very cute. How old is he in this picture and do you happen to have any pictures of his mom and dad. might give us a better guess on coat type though it is still hard to tell how they will be when thier adult coat comes in,
Hello everyone. New to this group and would love some feedback about your experiences. We are two weeks away from getting a NAR (5/8 poodle, 1/4 Golden and 1/8 Lab). I have a daughter with allergies (that is one reason we looked at doodles) and she has not had any symptoms of an allergic reaction on the several occasions that she has been exposed to the puppy. The litter had 10 puppies with coats varying from extremely wavy poodle looking to ours which is very short Lab looking. Ours is the only one that has not taken on a fluffier, longer looking coat so far though. After playing with him the other night we did notice a few hairs on my wife's black shirt (probably about 15). Has anyone had a NAR that looked similar to ours or had the shorter coat? Did you have a lot of shedding? Any allergy issues? We chose the little guy (the runt of the litter) based on his personality after spending time with the whole litter. We are very excited about bringing him home in two weeks. We would love to hear from anyone with some experience or suggestions about the coat/shedding/allergy stuff.
We just got our first double doodle...I say first because our next will have to be on the way. We love this puppy. I currently have two dobermans as well and one furry bundle that my mother picked out. We just adore her!!!
