That is great Lorraine, I am so happy to hear that, Good days are just what we need to give us that boost to keep us going.

In spite of my total excitement and sheer joy of helping my mom get her puppy, My health is really doing very poorly. I am not totally dependent on oxygen, even at rest. and the amount I need is going up and up....

I really don't talk about it in my 'real life" because if I say one thing about not feeling good, I get so much unwanted advice such as you are overdoing it, not making smart choices, doing to much, etc. All well meaning people. Even on my facebook I have to filter what I say because I have so many different connections on there that if I say one thing, the next thing you know, I have so many people coming up with crazy ideas. Just because I am sick, does not mean I can not make my own choices...

Anyway, done venting... Hoping I start to feel better soon. Being tethered to oxygen all the time and not having energy is sucky. There I said it.. was that a complaint???? I think it was by george...

Sometimes you just need to say things stink, and then move on without anyone trying to fix you, you know????

Woo Hoo! I hope it lasts for you too Lorraine. That is great news. Although I have to admit the iced coffees sound a lot more pleasant! :) Keep us posted!!

I am up and did a fair bit yesterday too. I have been away since 8:30am which is unreal considering I usually struggle to get up with the alarm on the days that I work! I have the ok to take the anti inflammatory twice a day in suppository form. So it is either that or the iced coffee's I had yesterday! Either way this is not normal. I have been through all the email's and groups and still it isn't the usual time I get up. And then I get up stiff and sore!!! I hope this lasts!

Tina, Hope your good day lasts and lasts. I think you  have given me a very helpful suggestion. Frequently when someone stops over we just put them outside so we can focus on the guest, but if we warn them we need to train that would be much better!

Oh, I missed understood what you were saying.  My brain gets real foggy sometimes.  What I think I read isn't always what is written.  Now that sentence is confusing, LOL.  I am home alot and that is were most of my training takes place.  But I also live in the country which makes it difficult.  What I have done to work on socialization is recruit a some of my friends and some have kids.  When they are out running errands they will stop by.   Everyone rotates so to speak, so the dogs are not getting used to just them.  While they're here I do mini training sessions.  Something else I do is play recorded noises on occasion.  I also do mini training sessions for commands.  It's not everyday but I do the best I can.  Right now by body is feeling pretty good, but that could change later today.

Thank you for the suggestions Tina and Lorraine. Our dogs get tons of exercise because my husband runs/walks them all of the time. Even when he does a work out for himself he will take them for a walk before going to work. He is a big fitness buff. The problem is he is not a trainer. Obviously it helps that he has them on leash and that they are getting lots of wonderful exercise so we would not have to get someone to exercise them. My concern was that Owen, our fiesty puppy, is not getting training... like serious training outside of the home. I thought if others here were home-bound they might have some suggestions about how to do a better job training when we are so rarely able to get "out". Your suggestions are wonderful and will help others who do not have the luxury of a personal dog runner like my DH. ;o)

During the school year we have students in highschool that have to do so many volunteer hours before they can graduate. If you were to call a school in the area they may have a program like that. It would allow the student to help out and learn about dogs breeders ext from you. Then you get a dog well socialized and excercised that can only help you have a better dog in the end.

While writing this I just wondered if you are involved in your church community as well. There may be someone from your church that may be able to help as well.

Just some thoughts.

Bonnie, I know it can be difficult if not impossible to do things when migraines control our lives.  I'm afraid to jinx myself so that is all I will say.  Lexi has been volunteering at the Nursing home, which also has assisted living residents.  I noticed the other day one of the residents walking a dog.  When I asked about it they said he walks a couple of the dogs in the neighborhood for people.  He misses being able to have a dog and by doing this it makes him feel like he does in a way.  It also gives him a purposes.

I live in a small community so lifes alot different than living in the city.  But maybe something like this would be an option.  Owen would get leash time and burn off some extra energy.  Just a thought.

I agree with Susan.  Don't worry about venting we are here to listen and support you.

Hugs from Iowa
