My son bought me a time lapse camera as a thoughtful gift last year. He finally set it up this spring and he removed the card yesterday. Apparently you can also "stitch" these images together. It takes a photo at set intervals. The results, after almost 300 pictures were interesting. Some pictures were in the depth of night, no usable image, some had sunlight streaming into the lens. But the progression was impressive. I think the best images might come from frequent pictures of an individual or group of flowers opening.

Here is a photo from the beginning of April and one from near the end of May. What a difference 2 months and tons of rain make! Obviously the camera had moved a little during the time elapsed.

Amazing! If it weren't for the structure on the right, you could never tell this was the same place!

That's a pretty neat gift!

It was a neat gift!

I know it would be  hard to believe it's the same spot if not for the trellis. The shed has almost disappeared under the trumpet vine and other vines. I did a discussion on this kind of disappearing act once.

I try to remind myself in the dead of winter that spring will surely come, But when things look even worse than the first picture it's hard to imagine.

The difference is night and day! I'd love to see the time lapse video! Are you going to post it on Vimeo/Youtube?
Ha, do you think I did it or can? Michael took out the card and I uploaded the images. Maybe when he comes out he can figure out how to do it if it can be done retroactively. He is taking a masters in 3D imaging so I'm sure he'd be better at this than me : )
You're so funny! How many images are there all together?
Would you believe about 280. But I think one from each day would do.

Here's a super easy way to create a time lapse movie with these photos on your Mac using iPhoto. First, go to FILE > NEW ALBUM > name it "Time Lapse Garden" (or whatever). Drag all the images into the Album.

Click one image in the album then do a "select all" (Command+A)

Go to VIEW > SORT PHOTOS > BY TITLE to put them into sequential order.

Now, to create the slideshow, click the "+" sign on the bottom left corner of the page > select SLIDESHOW.

Click THEMES (bottom of page) > select CLASSIC

Click SETTINGS (bottom of page) > ALL SLIDES > Select: "Play each for a minimum of "1" second > TRANSITION: NONE > uncheck all the boxes below it (title, etc).

Click MUSIC (bottom of page) > You can either select "themed" music or navigate to your iTunes library.

Click PLAY (bottom of page) to watch your slideshow.  :)

(I can easily walk you thru exporting this slideshow to YouTube. If you don't have an acct, I'll be happy to walk you thru creating one of those, too.)

Looking for an app for my iphone.  I'm sure there is one out there somewhere.   Recently, I've had success using iphone apps:  Videopix, Slomo Movie Maker ( this one is FUN to capture jumping doodles), and Spice ( this was good for making slide show from progression).

2 of these have Slide Show features.

Just an FYI for those of us who don't use an Apple OS.

As always, thanks Linda

Thanks so much, you got me at super easy. Will do ASAP.
wow, that is a huge difference! What an awesome gift.
That's a good way to do it too.
Wow!
