What is the meaning and origin of your Doodle's name? Darwin is Old English in origin, and it means "a dear friend." Loved that!

Our puppy's name is Mulligan!

Started by Felix. Last reply by Taylor & Huff Jul 9, 2011. 6 Replies

We named our puppy Mulligan, as in golf "do over".  We call her "Mullie" or "Molly" sometimes for short.  Just like it means "do over" in golf, Mulligan gave us a "do over"chance in life.  She…Continue

My puppy was born almost two weeks ago and I am torn between two names! GusGus (the mouse in Disney's Cinderella) or Darcy (from my favorite book/movie, Pride and Prejudice) I am so confused on what to pick! Any suggestions?

My sister named Webber. I told her that the dog was expensive enough that I would have to take the money to buy him out of my Paine Webber investment account. She said "Paine" would do, but Webber was fluffy, yet masculine. No other name worked after that....Webber was it.

We were going to name our doodle Lucy - but she ended up to be born on St Patty's Day (2009) so we just had to name her something Irish - so "Irish-Lucy" it is - but we just call her "Irish"!

Little bit of a story about Dalai's name. We were looking for a goldendoodle breeder for a couple of months. Then DH saw a neighbor walking a puppy and thought it was a doodle. Told him to ask what breeder they got their puppy from because the breeder I was looking at was 5 hrs. away. He talked to them and they were having problems with their cat adjusting to the dog (not eating or drinking). We put a note in their door asking if they were considering getting rid of the dog. They called, I was apprehension (the dog was only 10 wks. old?) went and saw her. Took a few days to decide (since a dog is a big responsibility). Two days later we went to see the Dalai Lama in person. Decided during his talk that if we got our doodle that we would name her Dalai. Nobody would know that she is our 'Spiritual Leader'. We know she is very special and means a lot to us!

I think she named herself because Mitzi was not a name I had ever thought of. When we went to get her and looked at her the name just came to me. Maybe because she was a strawberry blonde and silly, but Mitzi quickly gained the added nickname of Ditzy, definitely because of her behavior, and the grandchildren added Fluffmuffin, because of her fluffy coat. So her full name is Ditzy Mitzi Fluffmuffin. I guess that makes Mitzi her middle name???

Our goldendoodle's name is Woody. I call him Woody, but my wife usually calls him Woowoo. Once in a while I will call him Woodchuck. Our next door neighbor calls him Woodster and the cashier at the gas station we trade at calls him Woodruff. She always has treats for him so he gets excited when we go there. The breeder's name for him was Winston.

Don't you just love dogs! One thing about having a doodle, they can always make you laugh! :-D

My Casey used to say something like "Arugala". I bet she and Connor could have had some conversation between the two of them!

Deborah when that happens, we'll want to see that funniest home video! Love it :)
