We've only had Millie since Friday, so we don't know her real well yet.  But, she seems to get so hot so easily!  It was like 80 degrees here this weekend, and she was so warm trying to find shade.  And you could tell it just zapped her energy.  In the house, she panted nearly non-stop.  It didn't feel too hot for us, but she acted like it was 100 out!

Is this common?  Are your puppies overly warm as well?

After a summer walk, my dogs love to lay on AC vents on the floor. Whatever it takes to cool off!!!!
Haha! It's funny that they prefer the hard crate bottom, but LOVE the cushy sofa and bed! What's up with that, anyway??

Dog's body temps are higher than ours and will overheat faster too. That's why you should always bathe a dog in water that's a bit cooler than what we humans think is comfortably warm. We always keep walks in the Summer to early mornings or evenings (on days above 75 degrees). We pack water for the doods too (they know we have it and stop to ask for it!). We use the H2O4K9 stainless steel water bottles. They come with a deep-dish lid that's perfect for dogs to drink from. The company offers a neoprene sling, too, which makes packing it along super easy.

Ooh, love those water bottles!  I love my klean kanteens for myself.  These remind me of them.  :)   I will order her one of those right away.  Thank you!

Ours is always, always too hot. She turns her nose up at her dog bed, and prefers to lie belly down on the cool stone tile by the front door. If it's warmer than 20 degrees outside (~70F) she refuses to walk and will lie down on the path (or the street), leaving us the option to drag, carry or bribe her :)

On very hot days, she loves to be wet, as it cools her down right away.

Good idea about the fan!

Salvador is 16 weeks (tomorrow) and I've noticed the past couple of days that he is just panting non-stop too!  In the past, he's preferred to lay on the tile, but lately he just wants to touch me (which I don't mind, but he is SO squirrally...even after some intense play) and then just pants the entire time.   I'm thinking about doing the pool thing too...  OR, I was gone for a week and my mom watched him and she said he LOVED the sprinkler-it allowed him to be cool, but also worked off some energy.  Next week, I'm also going to take him to the groomers and get a lot of his hair removed!  Hopefully this helps him too!
