Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Our Hazel is just about 1 year old now, so it's fairly safe to assume she is full grown at this point (although she has been a late bloomer in her temperament and behavior).   When we adopted her she was supposed to be a medium size doodle, but have since realized she is a mini (the breeder was a little unclear on who the daddy was, no big deal at this point).

Anyway, she is a whopping 19.8 pounds at the last visit to the pet food store.  I was wondering if this is about normal for a mini goldendoodle?  Or if we have an extra special small one?  She is actually a perfect size for our needs as she fits through the dog door, doesn't eat too much, so not much to clean up in the yard, and easy to transport.

We have our second baby on the way (a human one this time) and she is going to be put through her paces.  I guess that is a topic for another time.

My Nimbus is a mini and the expected weight is 17 to 25 lbs. He is 9 months old and 20.5 lbs. Has been the same size for about 3 months. So I think he's done, too.

His momma's name is Hazel, too. :-) She weighs a little more, but his dad is only 17 lbs.

My little M.J. turned 1 year old in November and she weighed 17.7 at her last visit about a month ago.

Daphne is a mini and weighs 21lbs at 2 years old.

If she is a mini, then she is truly done growing. They stop growing by about 8 months.  Mini doodles really have a pretty big range.  Ned is 6 and weighs 27 pounds, which is  large for today's even smaller mini doodles, like Nimbus.

I can't help in any way to your question- but do you know/remember what Hazel weighed at 10 weeks? Our Mulligan is only 6 lbs and I used a puppy weight estimator online using a WIDE variety of dog breeds and sizes and it came back estimating that Mulligan would weigh about 13 lbs full grown. Our breeder thought 18-23 so I would be super happy if he stayed small. Our last dog was a Peekapoo and weighed 6 lbs full grown, lol.

We brought her home at 8.5 weeks and she was 7 lbs.  We looked at the growth charts too and estimated her to be at about 30-35 lbs full grown and that was not the case.  The growth estimator we used is on this link http://goldendoodles.com/care/growth_chart.htm.  It says to take the pups weight at 4 months, multiply by 2 and then add up to 10 lbs.  Well, that didn't happen.  This chart is just an estimator and I think the vast majority of doodles are of the larger variety so this chart may apply better to them.  Everybody thinks Hazel is a Bishon or Maltese.  I can tell it hurts her feelings.  ;o)  I bet Mulligan tops out at around 20.  Your breeder is probably right on her estimate, unlike ours who said Hazel would be about 40 lbs.  Our breeder....sigh.

I'm sorry, but I had visions of puppy Jerry Springer show when I read "not sure who the father is"! LOL

Sometime we refer to her as our ghetto puppy (that may not be all that PC though).  Albeit an expensive one.  Love her more and more each day though!

I feel like I should point out I do not actually watch Jerry Springer of my own accord... LOL!

But I swear patients in the hospital have nothing else to do, so I see this type of daytime garbage in my patient rooms all the time! I also love Judge Judy!

Oakley is expected to be between 20-25 pounds( that is the parents sizes and he is a multi-gen) but he has seems to have grown so much very quickly that I am not sure. Here is his growth so far...

8 weeks- 5.4p
10 weeks - 9.2p
13 weeks- 11.5p

Curious on thoughts from those with similar growth patterns. Does he seem on tract for an adult size of 20-25p? I want him to grow at a healthy rate- he doesn't seem fat, vet is not concerned he is over eating but of course since they can't tell us I always wonder if I am feeding him appropriately and of course because we are working on training he gets lots of treats....

Nimbus was:

5 lbs 12 oz at 9 weeks

9 lbs          at 3 months

12 lbs 9 oz at 4 months

15 lbs 4 oz at 5 months

17 lbs 4 oz at 7 months

18-19 lbs    at 8 months

20.5 lbs      at 9 months

Seems to me from reading on this forum that the mini/ med labradoodles really slow down in growth at 6 months and reach full size around 8 months... Is this correct? The double size + 10 pound formula at 16 weeks doesn't seem to work for the smaller breeds... .?
