Is there such a thing? We have tried the MYGoodDogs toys and the toys made from actual fire hose. Lucca ate through the fire hose in less than 5 minutes. He loves soft toys but I haven't found one yet that will last.
Soft as in squishable or soft as in soft to the touch like a stuffed animal?
I'm afraid for the most part soft things like stuffed animals are not meant to be chew toys...I know, weird--why do they even make them? For example my mom sent my dogs a suede stuffed football for Christmas. On the label it said something like "not meant to be a chew toy" -- so essentially it was meant for fetch and play but not to leave the dog alone with to chew on.
If you look through our Reviews page, you'll find some reviews on good toys for the dog to play with alone.
Carla,
Samantha is also a chewer. Went through ever plush toy she ever got until I found the Cows from Barnyard Buddies. It is an UNstuffed plush animal. She does chew on them to squeak the head or the feet but for some reason this toy she doesn't destroy. Well, it took a long time - until she decided that would be their (DH & Samantha's) new tug toy. Once it ripped from tugging, it didn't take too long for her to get to the sqeakers (which I cut out) and let her keep Moo. I have bought her several and so far have not had to throw one out.
Toby is an avid chewer. And has been able to destory any toy within a day or two. We have tried everything, including the fire hose toys, with no success. As a puppy he went through many, many toys. Some toys were destroyed within a couple of hours of giving them to him. He could even shred an X Large rope toy within hours and turn it into threads all over the carpet. The only toys that he has not been able to chew through are the JW Pet rubber toys. We have had some of these for almost a year, and to this day they are still in his toybox, he loves to play with them, and has not been able to chew through them. I have attached pictures of the four toys that we have that have outlasted any other toy we have ever bought. I would highly recommend these or any of the JW Pet toys as I know from experience that so far Toby has not even made a dent in any of these. We have the large 8" Holl-ee Roller ball and he is so funny to watch, it is easy for him to carry around, he runs around shaking it as he runs. Toby hasn't been able to destroy his kong toys , although he doesn't really care for those as much as the JW Pet toys.
The only toy we have found that lasted more than 5 minutes is the Kong Wubba. It has flat, fabric octopus like legs over a canvas type, fabric covered hard body. The legs are softer, so both textures are there. Mitzi has had one for several months. They come in different sizes, the medium size has lasted longest, we did give her a small one and she managed to tear the fabric off the body of it, leaving the inside exposed and no longer is a good toy. But the larger , medium sized toy is still usable and intact.
They have squeakers in them she loves to make squeak.
All the rest of the soft type toys she has had get chewed up quickly. She is nineteen months old and still plays like 6 months of age. Good Luck.
A wubba? I'm so sorry, I thought they were pretty strong. Let us know when you find an indestructible
toy, (though I really think manufacturer's make them for profit so they have to be replaced often).
When and if you find one that does not get destroyed, please let me know. I have been unsuccessful. My dog goes through every toy mentioned below in less than an hour. One thing I did find was plain old raquet balls. For some reason he can't go through them, probably because they have a little give to them. The unstuffed soft toys last a few hours to a couple of days. Anything with a squeaker in it goes the quickest. Good luck...Donna
