Must you mouth everything?

Ginger and Penny doodle, 7 and 5 months respectivly, can't seem to keep their mouths off of anything at this stage of their lives,  If I had a nickle for everytime I say....AHHHH....LEAVE IT......DROP IT.....AHHHHH AHHHH...Well let's just say I could solve California's financial problems with the interest alone from my account. 

Anyway, We have removed everything within reach from their area and completely supervise while they are outside because we have a very "lush" yard, and they can't seem to leave the plants alone. Still, they find things to mouth and chew. They are now chewig the molding and furnature in the dining room.  Has anyone ever used bitter apple spray? Does it work?

They are SOOO good at "leave it" during training, But when they find something they really want in the real world....not so much.

We used to think people would think Lucca's name was "leave-it" when we were on walks. He picked up EVERYTHING!!! 4 month old Izzy isn't doing this.....so far!!

I have fences all around the plants in our yard for now (because of Izzy) but we have a small yard so it's doable. Maybe you could cordon off an area for "play only"?

Bitter Apple worked well with Lucca. Now, I just show him the bottle and he stops. The same went for my Golden Retriever. I have only used it on Izzy once or twice so far and seems to work, but it doesn't seem to phase other dogs. There are other discussions out there regarding this. Some have suggested cayenne pepper or hot sauce. Good luck

The Bitter Apple has worked really well with both of mine and it seems once they taste it on something they never go back to it. They just move on to something else!!!! I have a bottle in 3 different rooms.

We used Bitter apple a lot with Buddy and it worked.  I can say now he is 1 year old and he no longer chews on things other than his toys and occassionally his bed (getting better with that).  But I will agree, we would spray it on and then Buddy would move to something else.  Good luck!

Yes, I use and have used Bitter Apple with all my puppies. It works but it does wear off. If you find the pup going back to the woodwork or furniture you have sprayed a week earlier just retreat it. I need to figure out how to spray it on my grandchildren now as I'm babysitting and the pup is obsessed with mouthing them. hahaha

Bitter Apple is working here. In fact, I spray it on LuLu's ears and back...Willow is biting LuLu when they play and poor LuLu has some scabs. Willow jumps up on LuLu and smells the bitter apple and jumps right off. Used it on my cabinet that she chewed and she has not gone back to it.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this suggestion. Kona is so gentle and kind he barely reprimands Owen. I just sprayed his ears, back and front leg armpits. Owen stands under him and bite his arm pits where I am sure it hurts Kona but he can't reach him.

Bitter Apple has worked great with me and Misty who's now 10 months old.  She has been into wires (stereo, telephone, light, heater) and since I sprayed them all with Bitter Apple she's left all alone.  We also sprayed the bottom boughs of the Christmas tree and some low hanging ornaments.  It worked.  Same with decorative pillows on the chairs and couch.  Unfortunately we didn't spray my 94 y.o. mother-in-law's hearing aid or my DH's glasses.  Too late for those!

Actually the most recent glasses that Misty destroyed is my DH's spare pair.  The ones that were his current prescription she chewed up - I should say mangled a few weeks ago.  Actually that pair she mangled once and my sister (who retired from teaching opticianry) bent them back.  Then Misty got them a second time and totally destroyed them.  The question should be at this point - why doesn't DH learn to put his glasses somewhere while taking his nap where the puppy can't get them?
