I have a 10 week old Goldendoodle puppy who is a busy body but even when she is tired she doesn't like or want to sit with me. I want to cuddle and feel like it's good bonding time. I pick her up and even put her on my bed at night and she jumps off so I go get her and again she bolts. Suggestions?

We went through the same thing. Our puppy just starting to get a little cuddly. He is 13 weeks.

Hurley has never been cuddly.  I wish he was but he gets hot.  He will lay close to me where his head might be on my lap or touching my leg but only rarely and not for more than a few minutes.

Don't hold your breath for a cuddly 10-week old puppy. Too much energy! Our doodle was the same way when she was a baby but she is a major cuddler now that she is a year old :) Just be patient and she will come around!

Lucy (5-1\2 yrs) was never cuddly, either. Not as a puppy and not as an adult. We bond through our interactive play sessions, as she is 100% about play. Oscar (3-1/2 yrs old), otoh, was cuddly from day 1, both as a puppy and to this day. He's the big Cuddle Bug. Every dog is different. You just need to find what it is that's their primary interest and connect through that.

Regarding Lucy, I should add that there are certain people that she sees infrequently (our grown daughter) that she's crazy about and will lay with her as close as she can get and will stick to her like glue while she's here. I've always thought if our daughter lived with us, that Lucy wouldn't be cuddly the same way, day in, day out. Lucy is very selective with her lovin' :-)

Give it a few years.  Yes, years.   My dog does now but there is too much energy right now.  Pups are not stuffed animals or teddy bears :(     They are busy toddlers

You might try tethering her when you sit down to read,  watch TV, visit, eat, etc. We did this originally to limit potty accidents and keep track of what she might get into, but I think it helped with bonding too. After your pup has had exercise and doesn't need to go out or have a drink, put her on her leash and just let her hang out with you.

Gracie didn't even liked her belly rubbed when we first got her. But, we've worked on her since day one. She isn't a big cuddle bug, but she has come a long way. In the morning when she first wakes up is when we get the most cuddles. She will rub her muzzle on our leg. That's it. :D When she was younger, my husband would just put her in his lap and hold her until she calmed down. Then, he would release her. It was to calm her when she got all wound up especially in the evenings.
Now, she climbs into his lap when she wants to and he's sitting on the floor. She also gives love nibbles. Which actually hurt if it is in the right spot (like my underarm or thigh) but it's not her trying to bite. Just affection.
All dogs are different, but we learned early on that we did not get a cuddly lap dog. We are just fine with it now. Her personality is really showing and we love it. She is a little over 4 months now.
Our puppy didn't get cuddly until he was about 6 months...He's almost 8 months now and he gets more cuddly every day. I think some patience training and lots of exercise has helped too

When Doodle was a puppy I felt the same way.  She was so wild and it seemed like she didn't even like us because I felt like she wasn't bonding with us.  She is a year old now and she is an excellent cuddler.  She will curl up next to me on the couch with her head on me or lay next to me in bed. She really loves to cuddle and get right next to me when she's wet.  I could do without that, but oh well.   You just have to give it time.  I remember how hard it was, so I know how you feel.

Thank you all for your advice and encouragement. It's so exciting to get a new puppy and especially a fluffy little doodle that you want to sit and run your fingers through its hair all the time. I almost felt like she doesn't like me... Crazy... Yes I know! She is extremely playful and I know she is also trying to get use to her new home. Time, love and patience! I will update in a few months...

I feel sorry for you. I felt the same.  Give her a few weeks and she will be biting your fingers off. No cuddling. Bear with it all. Later in years, she will never leave your side.  She will be your constant loving companion.

This year, NO!  Soon, you will be trying to hide from those teeth. It passes  :)   You will bond through it all

Ned is not cuddly.  The only time he ever sat in my lap for longer than a minute or two was when we took him with us on an overnight trip to visit relatives.  He sat on my lap for hours while we visited - fun time for me.
