Second grade here too! I was VERY lucky last year... had only 22 - which is low.... with all of the cuts - who knows what this year will bring. We don't start until the Wednesday after Labor Day... well, I start on the Tuesday....when I first started teaching 29 years ago, I taught in a Catholic school and had 36 kindergartners ALL to myself! And... I was MUCH younger then! LOL
I also teach 2nd grade. I get to start the year with 34 !! No aides of course.
school start Aug. 23 for students, Aug. 21 for teachers.
Wish on, J! A list of 23 for primary is wishful thinking here in California. And an aide! They are few and far between. What has education come to? When I started out, I had a combo K-1 bilingual class with 22 students and two aides. Those days are long gone.
I'm retired, but school starts here next week. Opening ceremonies tomorrow.
I'm slowly getting back into things too. Very different teaching for me, though - I teach college Biology and I have 125 students! (5 classes of 25)
23 seems like a lot for grade 2 - do you have an EA to help you out? (I wish I had one sometimes and I work with adults!)
Carrie - was this your week off? How is the new puppy working out? It will be another whole new routine for him to go to school with you. Let us know how it goes. We are all thinking of you.
Carrie.....congratulations on your new doodle :) Any doodle is great :)
Hi everyone! I am new here to Doodlekisses. I am also new to Goldendoodles (I have had other breeds like Australian Shepherds). I will be bringing home my new puppy right after school gets out (last day is June 15th and we bring him home on the 18th). I am very excited! I have one week to work on getting him crate trained and used to his new house before summer school starts! Then I will be taking him with me for summer school. I am very lucky to have a principal who has given me permission to have him in my classroom. I hope to ultimately integrate him into my class routines, but that won't be until he is better trained. I am a little nervous and anxious to see how this all works out, but excited for all of the possibilities. Has anyone else taken their doodle to school?
WOO HOO you LUCKY "dogs"! I still have 9 more school days - 7 full days and 2 half days which makes....35 hours (but who's counting) LOL
