This parent registered her kindergartener yesterday.( We have central registration for over 5000 students) She called today and asked why she cannot go to school today, ( First day of school) so I went to explain our procedure, how paper work have to be processed, sent to the elem. school where they will have to asign her a room, etc... so it can take a coupld of days before she can start school. ( State of PA gives us up to 5 days for regular Ed and 10 days for special Ed students.) She said "Well, F*** you then! " and hang up the phone!!!

I just find it hard to believe that parents would be so irresponsible as to take a chance of their child spreading something like swine flu to other children. These kids were obviously sick with something.

I think some parents at least where I am want the kids at school because they don't Feel the Kids are "sick" Some have other plans for the day It's sad to say but true in some cases.

You have to ask why the parents would send sick kids to school????

I have been doing language testing with the kinders and 1st graders for over a week and today two boys came to school sick. They were coughing and sneezing during testing. I had them sent to the office and sent home and then cleaned all the tables being used for testing. Why would parents send sick children to school with the big threat of swine flu?

yep I am trying to get them to play together sometimes they just want to leave each other alone or one doesn't want to play with the other. It's only the second day by next week I have a good feeling that they will be friends.

My husband has two students with autism in his reg. ed. 2nd grade class. Both parents are in a bit of denial as to how seriously affected their children are and while one family (educators themselves) really works with their little guy, he just cannot sustain focus. Why is it that people wouldn't hesitate to use medication if their child had asthma or an underactive thyroid, but heaven forbid, they don't want to use it to help a child be as "normal" and achieve as much as they could if they could pay attention and focus?

Two special needs kids in a class - that is a handful. Do you think you can get them to play into each other? It might be interesting to try.
