Well, Spring Break is over :(  I'm at school right now trying to get ready for tomorrow.  I'm not getting much done in terms of school work but I am catching up on DK stories:))  8 Weeks left of the school year - WOW! where did the time go.

Have a great week!!!

Enjoy, Kyoko!  I can hardly wait to see what you come up with on the Corel Painter and the Wacom tablet.  Mine is up and running and I spent some time yesterday painting.  So far, make and delete the levels, but it is so much fun making a level and then making it invisible, clicking back on it, back and forth, back and forth.  What a great activity for your spring break!

I wasn't worried about losing Presidents day, we never get it off, but we do have a "winter break" day this Friday and REALY don't want to lose that.  We're getting some freezing rain right now :(

We lost president day for the snow make up day... :-(

Hi Renee :)

We picked up Luna on a Thursday night, I was off Friday and then my husband took the Monday off.  After that, we both had to return to work all day.  Instead of leaving her in a crate all day, we had her crate inside an "ex-pen" (exercise pen) with some water and a little potty area.  That way if she really had to go she had somewhere to do it.  She often did, until she was about 8 months old, then she was fine all day.

Well, Renee, all I can say is that it all works out, same as having a "real" baby.  I have a puppy staying with us right now and he is currently taking a nap after a long walk and his lunch.  You probably wouldn't want to leave him in his crate all day, and it is best if someone can come in and give him a break at least once while you are away.  Actually a lot easier that a "real" baby that you cannot leave alone even for a short time.  You will make the necessary adjustments.  We started with doodles right after my husband retired, but we had many dogs before that.  You make it work for you.  My visiting pup now goes peepee anytime I take him out and say the words to him.  It was the same with my first doodle.   He peed on command, even if it was just a small amount.  Nice if you can get them trained that way.

Wow! I taught in CA for 4 years, but luckily that was when K-3 was still at 20:1. My largest class was 29 students when I taught 4th grade. Now I am in VA and our  numbers are a max of 28 in K-3 for my county. It is rare for us to have aides. Most of the aides in the school work directly with a certain population.

I teach 3rd grade and right now my list has 25 students. I am sure things will change as the first day of school draws near. Teachers go back on the 15th and students begin on the 27th. I've already been going in and am hoping to feel more prepared than normal. haha..probably wishful thinking!

Hope your numbers get down soon, Helen.  I know there is usually a big shuffle when school starts to get the classrooms evened out, but the high numbers seem like more of the current trend in California. For a SIP school, it really seems inappropriate to have such large numbers (and no aides).  Good luck as you start a new year.

Joni,

I teach in southern Ca.  It's a "program improvement" (low test scores) school too, and lower numbers would really make sense.
