Surely there must be a way to get the dogs to do all the work--not fair.

Oh shoot! You mean I have to replace my capped pvc pipe so I have a faucet, again!? For the hose?! It just gets more complicated... Who would work such a wonder for me?! A plumber? Please advise!!! Technical genius I am not!

Um... Sadie and Cole will poo anywhere as the backyard provides ample evidence! My concern is that they will rip the doggy do drain off my clean out drain. Why? Because I covered my outdoor faucet (pvc pipe!) on the southside of my house this winter and came home to river flowing down driveway out front. I forgot to remove towels and the girls thought dad had provided a new toy! Tug toy... let's tug on the towels and see what happens! They ripped the faucet component off the pvc pipe and I had Old Faithful! No need to go to Yellowstone! So, I'm hesitant to take the plunge... so to speak.

Ned won't poop on walks which isn't nice because sometimes we are gone - like on a trip and he NEEDS to poop!

Jackdoodle won't poop in the yard anyway, only on walks. Which is a pain, but also kind of nice, because the yard is always poop-free.

Do you really scoop poop in the snow? I guess if it is bad enuf you've carved out a poo path. We don't get huge snow volume so my dogs just trudge through it and poop where they normally poop.

Nancie and F Parker: It is not for everyone, of course. I wouldn't trudge through the house with a shovel either. But the shovel doesn't get that gross...unless all poops are mushy. I used a shovel before we got this product.... Anyone who uses a pooper scooper will still be putting poop on metal/plastic. And in the winter where snow is heavy you just wouldn't use it for that season. But I for one can't find the poo buried under snow here so for us it is a moot point.

Unfortunately, I am in the Nancie & Gracie Doodle group. It would be very inconvenient for me because of the location of the cleanout. And as Ann Bankert pointed out the septic tank would have to be cleaned more frequently --they are "productive" dogs. Add to that the fact that I'd have to trudge through the snow with buckets of water in the winter, never mind digging the drain out when it snows, and this becomes MTTIW. (more trouble than it's worth) Being a poor typist I'm being to love acronyms. I did see another device that flushes and can be heated but it probably costs a fortune and it requires plumbing and electrical. Well, at least I recycle the newspaper bags to pick up the poop. I'd love a practical solution for us that is more earth friendly.
