Can anyone recommend some good breeders of mini labra/golden doodles in Ontario? I'm finding it hard to sort through the large amount of breeders online. What are some signs to look for to tell you the breeder is ethically breeding, house raising the pups and going to provide a quality pup? Also, I'm seeing such a large range of prices from $800-$3200. What is reasonable for a well tempered, healthy doodle? Thanks.

Hi Shana - I seem to recall a great deal of negative feedback about Burkhart kennels.  If you use the search tool in the top right corner and enter the term Burkhart Kennels all kinds of discussions will pop up which you can read.  I recall a Labradoodle breeder in Grand Bend that may be worth checking out.  I think it is called Cranfield's.  You can search this site to see if any doodles on this site are from there or doodle lane if you wish.

Hi, I am researching labradoodle breeders (chocolate F1 preferred) in Southern Ontario and was hoping someone might be able to offer recommendations / places to stay away from?  I was looking at Burkart Kennels (recommended by a lady I ran into on the bike path a year ago who adopted hers there) and DoodleLane.  Both seem to get mixed reviews, though nothing concrete.  I am looking for a reputable breeder, not a puppy mill.  I would be happy to pay more and get a healthy, happy dog.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I have my hands full with Thomas doodle and my sons dog who comes here 5 days a week. Thomas is 3 now also like the dog up for rehoming...3 years of training..being with his family and 3 years of loving him.  Their circumstances must be bad if they are giving up their beloved dog after 3 years with him.  But I still can't get my head around them asking 1000. dollars for him.  Something is wrong there and sadly the LD is suffering the consequences.

I have e-mailed the breeder to see which litter he came from. I think he might be the full brother to my Hartley - they look so similar. I am disgusted that the current owners are asking so much for him. How can you 'sell' a dog that you are trying to rehome?? I wold take him in a heartbeat - for less $$$ - but I already have two doodles and couldn't manage another one!

At least these people are doing one right thing..trying to rehome their LD...because they sound just AWFUL to me.  Who charges for a rehome?? They should be happy that their dog is going to live in a better home than they can offer. My brothers breeder of yellow labs contacted him because she was looking to rehome one of her previous puppies.  His owners had split.  John picked up Kingston at the breeder(he was 9 mths old) and there was no charge and all his toys, crate and food were included.  My heart is breaking ..thinking that these people "dont have time for him"....the poor sweet guy.  Hopefully your breeder can find a home for him.

I would love to take him but the rehome price is just ridiculous. The owner of this LD is treating him like a commodity, sad.

Our breeder has a 3yr old F1 LD for rehome, he looks gorgeous!  His owners no longer have time for him.

If you are looking to add a doodle to your family, or know someone who might be able to give him a good home, you can contact the owner Kris on 416 258 6042.  Disappointingly, the owner wants a rehome fee of $1000 (which would have been the cost of the the dog as a puppy).

Hi folks, I'm brand new to to DK. I'm in North York, are any members nearby so we can arrange for a playday with our doodles? His name is Crosby and he'll be 4 on Boxing Day. It will be nice to socialize him with other doodles. Thanks.
