Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
This group is for those of us with puppies or dogs who look far more like the Golden or Labrador halves of themselves than the Poodle half. This group is for us to recognize the Poodle traits that shape our dogs while sharing experiences.

This website talks about the Klein (also called Moyen) Poodle.: Check it out:

The Klein Poodle is a German purebred also called a Moyen Poodle. It is a small to medium sized dog with a life span of 12 to 15 years. There are 3 recognized sizes of Poodle but there is this one too, the 4th Poodle. The only difference is the size, the Klein falls between the Miniature Poodle and the Standard Poodle. While it is not recognized by the AKC it is a very popular dog in the US and like all Poodles is intelligent, playful, energetic and a good companion.
I have been living with Poodles for 60 years, and there is very little I don't know about them. There is no such thing as a "moyen" Poodle in the U.S., and it is also not recognized as a breed in the United Kingdom. There are people selling "moyen" Poodles, in this country and elsewhere, but there is no registry, no pedigree database, and no way to verify that any given "moyen" Poodle in this country is a purebred dog. If in fact someone is breeding Standards to Miniatures to get something in-between in size, that's a genetic disaster waiting to happen.
Leasha, your furry friend looks like a labradoodle. Summer's one year and two year picture looks so different.
The Moyen / Klein poodle is a purebred poodle. It is the '4th size of poodle', actually in between the Standard and Miniature Poodles. It is currently not recognized by AKC, but is very popular in Europe, Canada and Europe.
Here is a link that describes the Moyen (also called Klein) poodle.
Summer looks like a labradoodle to me. In her two year photo, she resembles the famous Bocker, who was definitely a labradoodle. A LOT of labradoodles have straighter coats, many shed, and rose pigment is also not uncommon. Those DNA testing kits are available fairly cheaply now.
Thank you all for your responses.
Anyone else out there has an F1 goldendoodle with no furnishings?
We've had Summer for one year now. We rescued her from a shelter. She was owner surrendered. I'm STILL questioning what she is. At the shelter they told us a labradoodle, but unless we do one of those dna testing kits, we'll never know. I've researched and researched and she appears to be an F1 labradoodle with hair instead of fleece or wool type fur and rose colored nose, eyes and paws. A labradoodle is my dream dog, so when my friend who works at a shelter 3 hours away called me to tell me they got what they believed to be a labradoodle, we hopped in the car and made the drive. Regardless if she is truly a labradoodle, or just a mix that looks similar, we love her! As you can tell by the picture, her hair has changed so much in just one year!!
Interesting - we never asked for papers for Luna's sire (mini poodle) so it's entirely possible there was spaniel or something in there. He certainly looked like a poodle but who knows.
J, the IC gene doesn't exist in purebred Poodles. Optigen doesn't even offer the test for it in Poodles.
