OK, I am at my wits end. Dougie is now 50+ lbs and will not jump into the back seat of my Honda Pilot. He accidentally did it once so I know that it is possible, but, he will not even attempt to do…Continue

We've been in Middletown, DE for 2 weeks now and I am feeling a little clueless. I am looking for dog parks or any park where I can walk/jog with Dougie. The temporary residence leaves a lot to be…Continue

I am happy to report that my gates are up and working beautifully. No more Dougie wandering up the steps or in other areas of the house, unless he is being supervised. I got both gates from Amazon…Continue

Hi Adrienne! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I was thinking I had not seen you much on the forum and hoping all is well. Quincy send doodle wags to Dougie!
Hi Adrienne,
Glad to hear you're settled in Delaware. How are the kids and Dougie doing? We missed you and Dougie at Alla's. Hope you'll be back to visit -- or maybe we'll come visit you :)
Hope "your" day is wonderful and filled with lots of love, fun, celebrations and big Birthday Doodle kisses from Dougie:)
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Adrienne...hope you get lots of special birthday doodle kisses from Dougie...Thinking of you on your special day and sending doodle wishes from Canada!

Thanks for accepting my friend request Adrienne...Dougie is so gorgeous...lovely colour! Hope to stay in touch and get to know you & Dougie better. What a great site for Doodle Lovers...feels like a big happy family...I'm grateful to be a part of it!
So excited to see updated pictures of the puppy and family - Dougie is a gem!
Adrienne, I think it is too early to take Dougie to the groomer. PLEASE check with your vet before you take him to any groomer or let him walk around out in public. After your vet clears it to be safe for him, instead of PetsMart, I might check with the people in your local doodle group here on DK to see if they have any groomer recommendations. (OR you can just have your vet trim Dougie's nails)
Dougie is adorable, btw!! :-).
HAPPY FOURTH TO YOU AND DOUGIE!
Didn't want to put all this in your discussion, but some tips for curbing the nipping:
Make sure that everyone in your home (and all visitors) know that they must never hold a toy (or anything else) out of the puppy's reach and encourage him to jump for it or grab it. Make sure that everyone knows that they must not let the puppy "wrestle" or pull anything out of their hand, period. (No tug of war games.) Also, the reverse is true. Nobody should pull or wrestle a toy out of the dog's mouth; if he wants you to throw it, he has to release it. (Obviously, if he has something dangerous, you have to take it away).
Also make sure that everyone knows that they are not to use their hands as "toys" for the dog to try to grab or bite. This is a common "game" that adult men like to play with puppies, for some reason.
If his teeth touch skin, the playing stops immediately. If he pulls at anyone's clothing with his teeth, the playing stops immediately. If he nips, the person nipped is to cry "Ow!" in a high pitched yelp, and then immediately stand, move away, and/or ignore him.
Hope this helps. :-)
