Hi Deanna, Karen and Beckett found a great dog park in Temecula.  Want to meet ups with us?

Hi Deanna,

My name is Karen Farr and I have a two year old goldendoodle named Beckett.  We live in the Temecula wine country and we would love to get together.  Do you know of a safe area where we can meet?  Please feel free to contact me at RFarr46@verizon.net.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Deanna~  your two new babies are just adorable!  Yes, we are in Fallbrook...not too far from you.  Our Molly had her first real haircut last week, and we used a local groomer in town,  "Pampered Pets."  Molly doesn't like the heat so we took her coat down a bit, and she seems much happier.  Apparently, they have a "puppy" coat and then develop their "adult" coat after around 8 mos...I am also new to this (and am learning alot from this site!)  Hopefully, your first couple of days have been fairly easy...you are brave to get two pups at once.  We, too, lost our beloved lab last fall, so were very ready to have a new dog to love. Let's keep in touch and try to get the pups together when your babies have had all of their shots and the vet gives them the OK to  brave the beach/dog park/backyard!  It would be fun to do a play date!   Amy

Did you find a groomer?

Just saw your post in the Southern CA group.  You might want to join Puppy Madness if you haven't already.  You will reach a lot more people that way.  I also would not give up on crate training.  Their crates will become comfort places for them when you are not home.  It will also keep them out of trouble when you are not able to watch them constantly.  Little puppies can eat so many things (like socks) that can get them in serious trouble.  They will also need to understand being crated when they are being spayed/neutered or go to the groomers.  Please try and stick with it.  We got too puppies at once and we kept them in the same crate for a long time so they could comfort each other.  We also got an ex pen to set up in the main part of the house to give them a little more room during the day when we couldn't keep our eyes on them.

Crate training is definitely the way to go. I put the crate next to my bed so I could just drop my fingers inside when my puppy started to cry - he usually settled down and went back to sleep. Put something like an old shirt in the crate to comfort them (unwashed - it needs to have your "scent" on it). You might like to check out our SnugglePuppies, they are often helpful for relieving separation anxiety. It's also best to separate your puppies or use a divider within a larger crate, because sometimes they will go potty in the crate (just until they are trained) and this will help to limit the messes you will have.
