My husband and I are wild about Milton (15-months-old), but he is really concerning me lately. I have a bad habit of regarding Milton as my child, so I feel the need to occupy him throughout the…Continue

Hello All!I have been holding out on neutering Milton because I find it to be extremely unnatural; however, since Milt just turned seven-months-old, we were give the daycare ultimatum, so it is…Continue

As a new "parent," I give a lot of doting attention to my Milt. Also, as a school teacher I am fortunate to stay home with him, practically 24/7 beginning at 8 weeks. I know that dogs sleep an…Continue

Lately when Milton and I wake up in the morning, he is super rambunctious. He naps all evening long and then sleeps soundly throughout the night. When morning arrives, he is a ball full of energy. …Continue

Last weekend was quite eventful for our little family! Once a year, sadly only once per year, the Dallas area pools close for the summer season, and on the magical day following, the pools are opened up for all of our canine friends -- Doggie Splash Days! Way back in July, I started researching the best splash days to attend, and I decided on Mesquite and Rowlett, the same two that we attended last year because I liked them so much. At a price of $5/dog, $1/human at Mesquite and…

Jeff and I have a running joke that our Milton is such an independent individual, unlike your typical loyal pup, that he could be happy living with just about anybody, as long as that person is capable of throwing a tennis ball. This fact doesn't make us feel too good, but it is a fact. Our goldendoodle just doesn't have an awful lot of family allegiance which at times can sting, but we do admire his self-sufficiency. I would say that we are a bit more dependent on Milton for love…

Our goldendoodle is a local celebrity! Yesterday Milton was featured on the Life section of the Dallas News website with his picture as the opening shot for a slideshow of photos on Rowlett's Pooch Plunge, a doggie splash day. We took this screen shot because Milt was sharing web space with... Rick Perry of all people!…

Milton made the berry picking cut yesterday, and he was oh so giddy about it! My sister and her boys did not join, which means Milton was in because the littlest boy does not quite see all of our goldendoodle's "charms," like sloppy kisses, protective barks, and clean-up licks. I am confident that the Milt will win him over by summer's end -- He tends to have a downright happy effect on most people.…

I went to his page today after reading a post by one of our DK family memebers, Sally. Sally's insirational story is "Week 2" but while there, I clicked on "Week 1" as well. Made me think of you and Anny.
Hugs!

Heidi, One of DK's very active members also suffers from CF, Jennifer and Jack. Jenn is an inspiration to many of us as she posts encouragingly and hopefully about living life to the fullest. I hope and pray your sweet friend Anny gets her transplant soon. My husband's sister died of CF at 12. It is a vicious disease. Thank you for posting this story and raising money for your friend. (I will donate as soon as my daughter gets up. She has a paypal account and I don't.)
I was just putting away the Christmas cards and wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed your card, the Milt always makes you smile!
Thank you for the adorable Christmas card. Milton is a cutie!
Heidi! We got your card today and it brought big smiles and laughter to my DH and I. Even Libby was wagging her tail when we showed it to her! Love the card and love Mr. Milton. Thanks so much:) I love this card exchange and all the Doodles who are absolutely the cutest doggies ever:)
Hoping you are figuring out how best to take care of Milton with this new development in his neutering surgery. I'm sorry this has been such a worry. Your relationship with this sweet boy is lovely, and I am sure you will be grateful to have this ordeal behind you. Please keep us updated on who does the surgery and how it goes.
Thinking of you and hoping that Milton's neuter went okay.
Heidi, here's an older discussion that may interest you, posted by another doodle mom who felt uncomfortable about neutering her male doodle puppy. That was the way she expressed it- "uncomfortable"- not "hurting him" or "like a human lobotomy" or "extremely unnatural". She found my response "very helpful", although it was basically the same as the advice I gave you. It's all in the way you say it, as you know:
