Profile Information

About Me:
I am retired as my husband closed his medical practice three years ago and I was his office manager. I have been enjoying my free time with my doodles. My doodles and I are looking for other doodles in the Tampa Bay area to romp with.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Hershey is a three year old chocolate f-1 labradoodle. Rosie is also a three years old ald Rosie was supposed to be a breeder but she developed an under bite and was unsuitable for breeding. I was very lucky to add her to our family.Hershey is very active and Rosie is very quiet and mellow.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I fell in love with my sons labradoodle. I also had a labrador for 15 years and I knew what a wonderful breed they are.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Our doodles are our children as our grown children live up north. We love to go boating and taking them to dog parks and boating.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Dog groomer

If you're still in the Tampa Bay Area check out our Facebook group "Doodles Romp on Pinellas"

If you need a place to stay on your trip to Miami or back to New Jersey my offer still stands. The weather has been cold (30's last week-end) and maybe February will be warmer. I assume you are driving down from New Jersey again. Have a safe trip. The romp in south florida is 4 hours away...to far to travel. We have a monthly romp in Tampa that I usually attend .

I really appreciate it!!! After much discussion, we decided to wait to come down until we can get into our apartment which won't be until the 8th. Smart financial decision but disappointed in missing the romp but.............. there is always the next one.
Will I see you then??

Good morning Jane ~ As an after thought I wanted to share that often with digestive difficulties the fish based foods are usually the easiest to digest.

Hi Jane! I am touched that you asked for input. Did your vet speculate as to the cause? Anything unusual going on? I also am a huge fan of Orijen as well as their sister food ACANA (which is available in FL), though I have a couple of other suggestions that may have you seeing (fingers crossed) quick relief for your doods. Evangers Classic Chicken and Rice is about the best and easiest on the stomach there is for those with special food needs ~ those that know me well understand that despite my conflict with representatives for this company I cannot deny this food is exceptional and surpasses any RX food you could find and so where warranted I do recommend this food.

The other product we are HUGE advocates of are a solid digestive enzyme/probiotic formula (we like Wholistic Pet), I suspect that once you pass the current crisis you will choose to remain on this product. For now it will greatly assist in healing of the digestive track, absorption of nutrients and replenishing the good bacteria needed for optimal health. A little goes a long way and worth every penny in my opinion. We now use this for all who are eating food here, currently that is 16, we are changing formulas and flavors with each bag, we also introduce a variety of canned foods and other additions and have had no transition issues with food changes. If you are unable to find this and would like I would be happy to share a source to send it.

On your kibble issue we also have used Canidae in the past. One thing that is worth mentioning is that currently the conditions in FL are ripe for irritating other issues relating to mold, yeast, parasites, etc... Sometimes a food that agrees with our doodles at some times of the year does not at others. As an example we do feed grain free kibble and make a great effort to ensure that even treats are from acceptable sources. Currently I have several doods that are experiencing yeast issues, for the time being we have remained on ACANA's grasslands formula because it is heavier on the sweet potato rather than the white potato (which can convert to sugar as fast as corn and lets face it sugar feeds yeast). If I recall correctly Canidae added barley which also converts to sugar with ease. It is *possible* some of the results you are seeing are influenced by environmental issues. I know it sounds like a long shot but I can speak as an experienced sinus & allergy victim that when I am strongly affected it is not unusual for my stomach to feel upset. Here are some other considerations ~ do you notice this happens more frequently when the duration between meals is greater? Have you tried more frequent meals? I have heard of many dogs who tend to be more prone to upset stomachs if their stomach remains empty too long. Does Hershey eat fast? Have you ever tried soaking the kibble a bit and if so does the same thing happen? Is the vomiting occurring immediately following eating or later? Does the food appear to be digested? Another alternative to soaking kibble is to run some of it through the blender and then add to canned, with water and whatever else you choose ~ if you took straight kibble from the blender and mixed with water with no vomiting it would seem to point at something with the form it is eaten in rather than the formula itself. So you have a few things to contemplate and I am going to check out before start sounding incoherent. Please do not hesitate for a moment to pop back in with answers or additional questions. I would love to here of your progress in meeting the challenges of this issue.

Ohhhh. Well maybe it wasn't her that I was thinking of but she sure is cute. I found Scout in Columbus from Aussie Labradoodle. His parents were Kona and Kodiak - both chocolate. Scout was dark chocolate when he was a pup, but now he's more of a cafe color. We're still trying to figure out his coat, honestly, it's got so many colors in it!!! Some is sun fade, for sure, but underneath it looks dark from a distance but up close - lighter. Wierd. The one thing he has that I didn't expect is lots of white hairs. I've never seen another Aussie Lab in my area, so I don't know if all chocolates have that or not. We love love love him! He is so funny and fun. Loves to catch a dog frisbee and fetch! Probably more than you wanted to know, but you know how it is when we start talking about our babies... ;-)

Hi Jane - I'm new to DoodleKisses. When I first started looking for a labradoodle, I searched the web and found out there was a breeder in my own county, of all places. It was Heartsong. Unfortunately, they didn't have any chocolates, so I had to go somewhere else, but I've seen pictures of your Rosie on their website.... soooooo cute. I'll bet you are having so much fun with her.

Nov 2 20 Doodles met here at the beach. Wasn't cold but it certainly wasn't a beach day, Hat, gloves, scarves and fleeces were the dress for the day. That didn't keep the Doodles out of the water. They had a blast for 2 hours!! I, on the other hand, was comatose by the time I got home.
I just hate the wind - don't mind the cold.
And just watching Samantha having fun makes it worthwhile. What a mother does for her kids!!!

it snowed this am but it got warm (23) and sunny to the snow hasn't turned to ice yet. I took Samantha to the dog park so she could run a little bit and then came back to work. She is napping!!!
