Besides hanging out with my family and dogs, I love nature and have a great interest in learning more about wildlife. I raise monarchs in the summer and am currently raising painted lady butterflies and tadpoles with my 2nd grade class. I also enjoy gardening.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I have two miniature goldendoodles: Maggie who is 2 years old and Ella who is almost 5 months old. Both are sisters who share the same mother and father. Maggie is black and weighs 21 lbs and Ella is about 6 1/2 pounds. She should grow to be about 12 pounds. We also have a hamster named Bellina.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I wanted a small, light shedding to non shedding dog that is good with children. Everything I read about goldendoodles was what I was looking for in a dog.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
And we think we are so organized with our photos!
I think your Monarch 'obsession' is wonderful. Keep me posted on how your garden grows and how the lessons go with the students.
BTW there is a garden group here too. They would probably love to hear about your butterfly garden plants. Start a discussion there and tell them.
I have looked on my back-up drive and CAN'T find those pictures of the Monarchs. I hope they are on my desktop at home. Your experience sounds fantastic. What happened here is that there is a small grove of Eucalyptus trees that the Monarchs always rest in. The trees are full of them and look orangish. You have to watch where you walk because some are on the ground. It is amazing but not as wonderful as yours with them actually flying in a huge mass. I will keep looking for my pictures. I love to teach a unit on the Monarchs to my students when I can.
You've got a great situation. Two dogs to keep each other company and a student who is probably in and out more than you are. My son is home from grad school right now and he really missed the dogs. They adjust to whatever your home situation is, but it really is nice to have each other for companionship.
You'll be back to the old grind and you and the pups will adjust accordingly. Isn't it great to have summers off though. Is your daughter in school? It is great being retired, although yesterday I bought a crafts project for my favorite third grade class for next year. They think I am the art teacher and I occasionally sub in the class and bring art projects for them to complete. It is so great just being able to pop in once in a while.l
