Another snow day with The Pack

We got another 18+ inches of snow in New Jersey.  Check out this comparison of my foot and Porter's Clydesdale Snowball Paws.  This morning three dogs and eight kids were going craaaazy in my backyard :-)…

It's one thing to kill a fly, but now a bunny?!

Posted on December 19, 2010 at 1:00pm 11 Comments

Porter tried to come inside this afternoon with a mangled bloody rabbit dangling from his mouth.  It was so gross.  I brought him in, fed him some water, and went outside to dispose of the bunny.  Now, DH is saying I should have let him keep it because he earned it!  Someone please talk me down from feeling guilty about taking away the mangled bunny.  Also, he just turned two, why is he now so adept at killing things: catching the fly last week and the bunny today specifically.  Could it be…

We're a leathal team

I've had a fly in my bedroom for three nights now.  (No, I don't live in filth, I swear.)

I think flies move a bit slower in winter?  Its zooming had been easier to ignore than usual.  So, for two nights I halfheartedly swatted at it with a book and then let it go. Porter also made a couple pathetic attempts to eat it in midair, but he was also uncommitted.

Well, tonight I decided enough was enough, and Porter realized this.

I got out of bed and started tracking it.  He…

Melissa - are you still happy with the braided leather collar you bought in 2011.  I saw your post and I am considering getting a leather collar for Charlie.  I would appreciate your input.

Thank you

We didn't make it.  Harpo got sick and was at the vet's on Saturday morning.  He had a shot so they could dig around in his ear and I asked the vet if I should take him to the class but she said he might be a little loopy.  As it was, we came home and he crawled under the car in the garage and wouldn't come out for about two hours.

You betcha, it was a great video.  Besides frolicking cross species, it is a good argument for not over training our dogs.  Let nature play a role.  This is as I am taking my pup for his first rally training class.

I must have gotten mixed up looking at someone else's photo.  I know that my cousin's house in NJ has a very large yard, but he is down in Cape May.  I know that all of NJ is not like that.  We have about an acre, but it is on a hillside, and partly fenced for the dogs.  It is plenty of room for them and the weather is usually very nice here.  I loved the PWD playing with the sheep and even posted it on my facebook page.  Very cute!

New Jersey!  You guys have such large yards back east that it is truly unbelievable to us here in California.  We redid our lawn (new grass) for my SILs wedding but after the wedding we took out all the grass and planted the yard in all natives.  It looks beautiful but very little maintenance.  We kept a lawnmower for the grass under the trees in front, but no grass at all in the back.  My cousin lives in Cape May and I couldn't believe the size of his lawns.  He has a ride-on mower, but it is still a lot of work.

How would she find out about editing as a career?  (I'm not bragging here) She is really talented with anything that involves language and her teachers always felt she should be an author.  She went into mortgage industry until it tanked and went back to school. She will be graduating this June and will go to grad school in the fall to get a masters in psychology.  I would love to give her some info. about your career. I asked to friend you. If you accept, you could share this with me w/o publicly posting stuff not doodle involved. Heck, perhaps, I would like a second career, well third career change.

What a wonderful career you have.  Reading is the most wonderful and enjoyable pastime ever. How wonderful to be part of the process. I have always felt that it is THE field my daughter belongs in.

Thanks so much. I accessed the discussion and saw that a friend has used it, so I will ask her, now that time has passed, what her opinion of the effectiveness has been and if she used it for separation anxiety or other fears.

I really appreciate that you found the link for me.  Even though there is lots of stuff I can do on here, I have no luck finding information from past discussions with tag words.
