With sad heartbreaking news our sweet beautiful intelligent silly best friend passed away from bloat 2 months shy of her 11th birthday. She was the love of our life and moving on has been so hard. I haven't posted in years on DK and just now have figured out how to get back to posting. I did inform some of the people I know here through Facebook. Graciedoodle was in the best of health, perfect athletic weight and very agile. We have known about bloat since the day we brought her home so…

Those of you who have been with DK for the past 6 years pretty much know the things that Gracie Doodle either gets into or has had. Thankfully, up until now, I have had Pet Insurance. We have had two surgeries to remove Fox Tails from her front mitts paws, one to remove a Mexican Feather Grass seed from a turbine in her nose and a recent surgery to remove what turned out to be a calcium deposit on her hip due to Rattlesnake vaccine. For…

FINALLY…it has been a long 10 months but finally I can come up for air and say that Gracie Doodle is back to her old self, healed and happy!! YAY It has been a long tearful journey but now the light at the end of the tunnel is burning bright and our sweet, silly, goofy, loving and happy girl has returned to us. We are now down to 5 mg of Prednisone every other day for the next month and then she is off the medication completely. The vet said that she has a 70% chance that the…

As I sit here and read more and more about all the poor Doodles that are going through various types of medical issues, one thing keeps coming to mind...MONEY! I honestly can say that one of the best things I have done for Gracie Doodle was to get Pet Insurance. I only wish I had done it when she was a puppy but I was not yet a member of DK and was not up to speed on this type of thing. I always sort of assumed I would have a very healthy dog and any of the regular stuff I could pay for.…

Well, Nancie, how is it going with NellieDoodle? Is she a good puppy? It will be hard to live up to Gracie's reputation, but I'm sure will make a good attempt.
How is NellieDoodle working out? I still would love your take on your heart dog - and I assume that will always be Gracie. A short little story and photos of her (and you if you like). I will be making the book sometime this fall and as usual a Smilebox first (free) and then a Shutterfly book.
Oooh, that is very soon. Keep me posted. I did the same with Chica. There were two dogs in the litter with a lot of white and I did not care which one we got. The other dog had the eyebrows, but Chica was the more mellow puppy and our breeder picked her for us. She is from the same breeder as Groucho Too and I wanted to replace him. He was a phantom goldendoodle and Chica is a sheepadoodle but both fathers were a phantom standard poodle. My best wishes for your introduction to your new puppy.
