- About Me:
- I live in San Diego with my partner Larry. We both had dogs we loved that we lost to cancer. Mine was a big beautiful Irish Setter that got Osteosarcoma a couple of years before we met. I knew Larry's dog a couple of years before we lost him to cancer as well. After not having a dog in our lives for a couple of years we decided to take the plunge with our Australian Labradoodle. My parents who are huge dog lovers who have not had a dog for a long time either and after I put in the work to find a good breeder they had decided to get the brorther of Takoda, Obee. They were both flown out together in one crate and they jumped immediately into our laps and we were glad they did! They love hanging out with each other.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- Australian Multigen Labradoodle. His name is Takoda which is a Native American Sioux word which means " friend to all". He is a Gold/Apricot male medilum 5 .5 month old. He loves to hang out with his brother Obee which my parents own and they live nearby. They get super excited everytime they are around each other - they are best buds!

- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- I had a non Shedding Irish Setter and once I was aware that he was a non-shed dog i was hooked. We saw the coolest looking dog roller blading on the beach one day and we found out it was a Labradoodle. I had never heard of the breed before that but after some research I decided that would hopefullly be my next dog if iwas to have one again. They have the coolest look and personality. My parents felt that same way about the breed as they kept running into them and making comments about them. We both have them now and are very happy with opur choices!

- Be out and about and about with him and taking him to the Dog Wash.

A wikd Night...for a rambunctious Doodle!

Ok - So most nights Takoda sleeps in our bed. There is the occassional night where he does not come to the bed to be picked up and goes under and we don't hear from him till the earrly moring when he wakes me up - about 6:30 AM to be brought into bed to snuggle for the remainding time till we get up.But then there is the ever so chaotic nights that he does sleep in our bed and he turns into a wiggleworm. So....After 2 passed away dogs and a very cool dog sighting of an Australian Labradoodle on the Misson Beach Boardwalk over 2.5 years ago we decided to investigate getting one. This led a discussion with a breeder in Utah and "Voila" 5 days later the littly boy called Blackie by the breeder became ours and was shipped in a crate with his Brother "Blue". We already set up the Dog Beach in Ocean Beach for tomorrow but perhaps we can try the one you suggested later in the week

Thank you for the friend invite and welcome to Doodle Kisses. Unlike Takoda I have a shedding doodle (Labradoodle) that I adopted from Doodle Rescue Collective. love him dearly, though not the shedding so much!
Will - sorry I called you by the wrong name - yikes! Yes, I read that about the weight somewhere too. Do you really give Takoda a bath every week? Charlie gets one every 8 weeks, but then the only time he really gets dirty is when he is playing garden dog and hiding one of his chews in one my flower gardens! Even then I just wait for it to dry and brush it out, otherwise he gets dry skin. I know a lot of doodles are swimming daily - Charlie just plays in a kiddie pool and only wants to get his face and feet wet.

Ward - I sent you a friend request. Charlie is also a medium ALD. He weighed 24.3 lbs when he was six months old and by the time he was a year - he weighed 38.5 lbs. He has stayed at that weight. His mom was 30 lbs and his dad 38 lbs. We live in Washington State. Is your breeder in CA?
William - Oh my what cute doodles. Looking forward to seeing more photos of Takoda (and brother Obee).

Welcome Williama and Takoda. Hershey is a mini Australian Labradoodle in Orange County. Until the San Diego group gets a doodle romp together come join ours in Seal Beach June 23rd.
