Boy time flies when you are having fun. It is hard to believe we have had Harlow for a little over 2 months and she is now 6 months old. When we first brought her home she only wieghed 21 pounds and was as tall as the boys. When I weighed her on Sunday she was up to 38 pounds and she now towers over the boys. The breeder thought Harlow would reach an adult weight around 50 pounds and stand around 21" at shoulder. I am thinking she may go a bit bigger as she still has a lot of room to grow into…

We were at the dog park today (after practicing sit, down, stay and come) for some down time. Harlow was ‘chilling out’ with the other dogs when a ‘Shetland Pony’ joined the pack. Lola is a 10 month old, all legs and slobber, beautiful, HUGE harlequin Great Dane. Lola took an immediate interest in Harlow as she was one of the few dogs in the park fast enough to keep up with her ground swallowing strides. The girls ran around and around the park, sometimes bowling over the other dogs attempting…

Harlow has been in the deep south only since April but she already knows…
Southern women appreciate their natural assets:
Clean skin.
A winning smile.
That unforgettable Southern drawl.
Southern women know their manners:
'Yes, ma'am.'
'Yes, sir.'
'Why, no, Billy!'
Southern women have a distinct way with fond expressions :
'Y'all come back!'
'Well, bless your heart.'
'Drop by when you can.'
'How's your…

Success! Harlow finally rang the bells on the back door by herself to let me know she needed to go outside. Progress at last. I am teleworking today and was sitting at the kitchen counter when I heard the bells. My first thought was 'what was that', my second thought was 'OMG, it is the bells'. I turned around to see Harlow standing at the back door. I quickly jump up to let her outside and tell her what a wonderful dog she was. She even did her…

Harlow was having a serious conversation with me concerning how DoodleKisses.com got its name. She being a curious young Doodle was contemplating why a website called Doodle Kisses didn’t show more pictures of Doodles kissing their people. I tried to patiently explain that there were probably lots of pictures on the site of Doodle expressing their affection for their people, but mom was still learning how to navigate the site. I also reminded her not everyone was keen on making tongue to skin…

Whew! Finally Friday! It has been a long week at work; more than a few 12 hour days. That is the joy of working in IT when a big project is down to the final weeks before ‘go live’. But no matter how late I get home from work, our dogs are always there to greet me. The boys have always been happy to see me, but they are litter mates and have never been separated. After the ‘hi mom, glad your home’ greeting they are back about their business. Harlow on the other hand stays by my side while I am…

I am so proud of our little chocolicious girl. Today in puppy kindergarten we were continued ‘Leave It’. This time from the down position. Wendy our class trainer had us pushing the envelope. She told us to work this week until we could put a treat on both paws and have the pups ‘Leave It’ for the ‘Take It’ treat. Harlow was leaving the treats on her paws for a full 30 seconds before I gave her the ‘Take It’ treat.
What a joy to have such a willing eager doodle after so many years of…

Phil and I ran off for a “Parent’s Escape” weekend for the fourth of July holiday. DD stayed home to take care of all the four-footed children. This was the first time we left Harlow since she joined our family in May. DD is a bit of a scardie-cat and we wondered how she would do at home by herself. After we came home she told us that she slept on the family room couch with all the outdoor (and most of the indoor) lights turned on and the security system enabled. DD convinced Harlow to sleep on…
