Yesterday we took the pack to our local dog park. I was not sure how Brogan would react to all the other dogs at the park. He was a bit reluctant to climb into the car; I had to pick him up and put him in the back seat (Let me tell you, he's no light weight). But who could blame him, the only other car rides he has had probably weren't great experiences. To the shelter in Dothan, AL where his previous owners had dumped him, then a tag team of car rides across Alabama and Georgia to join us; and lastly to the vet to be neutered. :-o
When we got to the dog park Brogan wasn't to sure he wanted to get out of the car. But after the other 3 hopped out and began whining with excitement he decided it was safe to get out. After we got through both of the gates to the 'big dog' play area we let everyone off their leashes. The other 3 immediately began greeting the other dogs but Brogan was a wee bit tentative. In a little bit Harlow came running up to Brogan and began to pull him along by his collar as if to say "Come on Broggie. This is fun". A couple of other dogs came up to sniff Brogan and allowed Brogan to sniff back. After that Brogan took off like a rocket to play Fox and Hounds with all the dogs in the park. He had a great time running and jumping and rolling around on the ground for over an hour. In fact he was having so much fun we had a hard time convincing him it was time to go home.
We were finally able to round him up and go back to the car where he happily hopped into the back seat. After we got home Brogan got to meet a few of the neighbors and get petted by several of the small children. He absolutely loved the attention. He just sprawled out in the front yard making happy little groaning noises while the kids loved all over him.
