I am not sure when it happened, but I definitely heard it today. Harlow has gotten her ‘big girl’ bark. She is still using her puppy bark when she is trying to convince the boys to play so it surprised me when she was in the backyard doing her business when she suddenly rang out with a very deep, very adult ‘WOOF, WOOF, WOOF’.

DH and I took Harlow with to visit his mother last weekend. She has always had toy poodles, but is now too frail to have a ‘full time pet’ and has not had a dog after her last poodle passed 4+ years ago. MIL had been asking about Harlow ever since we got her. Harlow was wonderful. She was very calm and gentle around grandma. She wanted to lie next to grandma's chair the whole time we visited. Wow, is there a rule posted in the Doodle Book of Rules that says 'Thou shalt start blowing puppy coat and mat'? The day Harlow hit 8 months it was like instant matting. I have been brushing her every other day. I finally had to convert to the thinning shears and comb. Her ears were the worst. It took me quite a while to work through the mats. We had to take a play break after each ear. I swear I got enough hair from her ears to probably assemble a small cat.
