Nancy, Ned, and Clancy Plus One

Our beloved English Springer Spaniel, Gordie, passed away suddenly from bloat last summer.  I have been missing him more than ever lately and have taken to haunting websites and looking longingly at every 'Springer looking' doodle I see, either in real life or on-line.  I began showing my husband these pictures - just once in a while, I swear  :-}   He reminded me that…

OHIO INVADES CALIFORNIA'S NORTHERN AND CENTRAL COAST

Some people recently posted about their visitor from California which was very nice and all, but if DJ had just stayed home, the visitors would have come to her!   Ann and Mike Kendig traveled from Ohio to visit the California Redwoods and central coast.  …

INTRODUCING OUR GRAND DOG

MEET JUNIOR!  MANY THANKS TO THE DRC FOR SPOTTING HIM ON ONE OF THE MANY SHELTER LISTS.

JUNIOR IS THOUGHT TO BE A DOODLE, BUT, WHO KNOWS ABOUT DOGS WITH NO HISTORY.  WHATEVER HIS GENETIC MAKE UP,  HE IS PURE CUTENESS AND WE WILL SEE HOW HIS COAT GROWS.  WILL HE 'DOODLE OUT?"

My son, Lance, has been looking to adopt his first dog as an adult. He…

WORLD FAMOUS 2012 MALIBU DOODLE ROMP BENEFITS DOODLE RESCUE COLLECTIVE INC.

Doodle Rescue Collective Inc. was the beneficiary of the 2012 Southern California Doodle Romp. This unique picnic, held in the mountains above Malibu, was attended by doodles and their owners, including doodlekisses members. There were silly doodle contests, a raffle, and an auction as well as a catered lunch.  The doodle population included some former DRC rescue doods.  Jacquie York,  DRC National Director, traveled from New Jersey to join Michele Long, DRC's Southern California Director,…

CLANCY'S ADOPTAVERSARY (DELAYED)

March was an important month for our household with both Ned and Clancy celebrating their 4th birthdays AND the second anniversary of Clancy's adoption.

Ned and I got our first glimpse of Clancy when we participated in our local no-kill shelter's fundraiser Walk-Around-The-Park.

It was love at first sight for us, but since we really were not looking to add a 4th…

HERE WE GO AGAIN - ANOTHER FAMILY FOSTER - WELL SORT OF....

My daughter was visiting a friend night before last when she noticed this little dog hiding under the porch.  The poor puppy had paint, poo, and burrs all over his coat.  She took him home for the night and then to the vet the next morning to see if he was chipped -he wasn't.

Then she went to the do-it-yourself dog wash where she washes her lab, and tried to wash this…

UPDATE TO THE DELIGHTFUL SUNNY

Here is my favorite picture of Sunny.  The two rescue boys:

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE FOR SUNNY:

Sunny is perfectly crate trained for more than just night time.  He hates and attacks vacuums so I crated him while I cleaned and he just napped until I was done.  Yay!

He is doing very well with housebreaking. We have expanded his space in our house - den/kitchen,…

SUNNY REALLY IS A DELIGHT! UPDATE

Sunny got off to a rough start - mats, fleas, ticks, torn off nail, kennel cough, neutering, neutering infection (had to wear the dreaded cone for three weeks!). After having him for only ten days, his 'rescuer' fell and broke her hip and was unable to continue caring for him. My daughter kept Sunny for those first weeks. Sunny and her lab quickly bonded with each other. When she had to leave to work in another town, Sunny came to us. Sunny loves our dogs too and we have doodle wrestling and… Continue

RESCUING a DOODLE-of-some-sort

On Friday, Michele of the DRC sent my DH and I to check out a doodle at the San Bernardino City Animal Control Shelter.  It was to be the dog's last day but the DRC had gotten a hold put on him (Yay!).  He was supposed to be a large white male doodle, but when Michele spoke with a worker there, she was told that the dog was small.   Michele was trying to find a foster home or get the poodle rescue to take him, but there…

NED AND CLANCY MEET CAMUS (FORMERLY KNOWN AS WOODY)

Ned and Clancy met Camus at a romp in Encinitas, California today. Ned and Clancy had some advice for Camus. "Enjoy your new home and be a good boy." Camus said, " You betcha! I am lovin' life now. My new mom is the best."

Here is a link to pictures:

Ned and Clancy met Kona and Buddy for lunch and shopping

Dear People,

Clancy and I met Kona and Buddy for a day of shopping and lunch in the little central California tourist town of Solvang. Here is an album of our day taken by our moms, Gina and Nancy. Everyone was so friendly. We had a nice time because we got cookies and water at the stores. And the tourists kept taking our pictures because we are sooooo beautiful and cute and smiley. Buddy and I got to go into a big Christmas store 'cause we know how to behave (especially Buddy) but Kona… Continue

Dear Doodle moms and dads,

Well, they finally decided upon my name. They took all of your suggestions and wrote them in chalk on the back patio and waited to see which ones got peed on. We peed on all of them!

So then they decided to put names in a hat and pull one out. Ned ate all of the papers - what a baby!

As suggested in the previous blog, they decided to hold an Adina-type contest with a LesPouchs brush to the winner. And the winner - drum roll please ..... ta da… Continue

ALTHOUGH HE STILL HAS NO NAME HE HAS A GREAT LOOK.

THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SO SUPPORTIVE AND COMPLIMENTARY OF OUR FOSTER FAILURE. I feel so lucky to have so many friends who care.

Adrianne M. started it all by having us be a back up for a doodle in need. This was just after my son's beloved doberman had to be put down. Then I went to the Humane Society's fund raiser where I saw the doodle formerly known as Buck. It was love at first sight. He went to the groomer today and as usual she did a fabulous job.… Continue

TOTALLY HOPELESS DOODLE ADDICT TROPHY ARRIVES AGAIN

Yup! The Hopeless Doodle Addict Trophy has arrived at a new addict's house. Due to my extreme doodle addiction I received the terrific star accompanied by the terrible towel (Steelers Superbowl 2009 towel) which I will proudly wave. I took my trophy and towel to share with my students. Of course, the kids thought Ned won the star trophy - they already think he is a famous star anyway. Thank you doodlekisses for making me what I am today - Doodle Obsessed! Soon I will pass this treasure… Continue
