Hi everyone!

Penny had her 2nd set of shots on Tuesday and is in the best of health, gaining in weight from 11lbs three weeks ago, to 17lbs now....what a moose!

Walking her on the leash is still going well, but she's now trying to assert herself more, and I'm having to check her a lot more, but that's to be expected as she gains in confidence. I'm still in charge though, and she knows it...most of the time.

Has anyone has seen those dog toys called 'Skineez'? You can get a raccoon, a fox, and a skunk, stuffed animals without the stuffing, they look like road kill. I was telling my sister in England about them, and she asked if I could get one for her Westie, a typical American one, we have foxes in England, but not the other two. So I bought a skunk...no I lie, I got two skunks, couldn't resist getting one for Penny. It just so happens that Stinky is now her favorite toy. They have a squeaker in the head and the tail, Penny likes to fold it up so she can have both squeakers in her mouth at the same time, sounds like a police siren from the sixties...and oddly enough not annoying...in fact funny as hell, coz she just walks around squeaking away!

Talking about getting lots of stuff in their mouths. We have two miniature tennis balls for playing fetch with, keeping one in reserve in case Penny doesn't see where I throw the first. We were playing fetch, and both balls were on the loose, so Penny with one ball in her mouth tried to get the other one in as well, almost choking herself as she was pushing the first down her throat...Lesson learned?...those balls are now too small, and tennis balls are a pain as she gets her teeth caught in the fluff, not easy getting her to drop it...so a trip to PetSmart tomorrow, to get plain rubber, bigger balls! She now plays fetch with any toy, and you don't have to say bring it back any more, I just say "Fetch" when I throw it and back she comes with it...the dropping it when she gets back however is a work in progress!

Relationships between pup and cat are getting better...the barking in their faces is a no, no, and she is learning that it is wrong, so tries her best not to....she came in from the garden yesterday, saw our eldest cat Bunny in the kitchen and ran straight for her. Bunny doesn't move quick, so held her ground, and Penny ran past her, head held high, ears flapping in the breeze, snapping her jaws in mid-air "Snarf, snarf, snarf!"...as if to say, "Ha, ha, ha, ha! I'm being really good"...Can't say Bunny was impressed, but they are more tolerant now she barks less, lets face it, cats don't like the smell of toothpaste, so hot puppy breath must be gross! We have a love seat in the dining area that has seen better days, we were going to throw it away, but it's back serves as a useful hammock for the cats to lay and look out of the window at the same time, Bunny especially spends hours up there...Guess who learned how to get on the couch yesterday all by herself? See photo below...

Doesn't she look cute, just trying to be friendly with Bunny? Then of course she wanted to get closer...

Then got too close and got a left jab for her trouble...

Now that put her in her place, it's the only way the cats will get any respect, our youngest, Potsy already has that in hand, and they are almost friends now. That will never happen with Skippy, she's too much of a tweak, even growls at Penny when Penny hasn't even noticed her....you never know though, they could end up the best of friends.

As we had temperatures in the 90's last weekend, Penny was very thankful for her little paddling pool, she doesn't do anything when she's in, but likes to be put in there to cool off...looks like moving to Arizona is off our "things to do list"...hee hee! She does love water though, and is never happier when Jeri is watering the garden with the hose, she gets under the stream trying to bite it, gets herself totally wet through, absolutely loves it! The photo below is another way she's found to cool off...."For my next trick...the incredible floating ear!"

And then as if her humiliation isn't complete, catching Penny having a nap, we couldn't resist taking this last photo, after adding a prop that is!

Now is that an impersonation of Cousin It from the Adams Family, Alf maybe, or just a celebrity anteater?

I think that's it for this week, hope you enjoy my update.

Great pics to go with the update. Poor Penny is outnumbered but I don't think that will stop her. Give it a little more time and she'll have them eating out of her paw.
