Ok two days until we drive 3 hrs to get our puppy.  I made a list of boy names and girl names.  I borrowed two puppy crates, I still need to clean them.  I made a list of supplies to buy tomorrow.  The reality is starting to hit the kids now and they have talked about it all day.  I am sure they are going to drive me insane wanting to hold it on the way home but I also think they think it is gonna be this tiny little thing.  LOL  They are gonna be surprised.

I have been looking on the internet for dog insurance.  I have found insurance as low as $3 a month and as high as $70 a month.  I found a couple ones that interested me around $20.  Still doing my research on this before I make a decision.

I am also doing research on a fence for our back yard.  So expensive, wow.  We want aluminum so I have a couple quotes coming next week.  I look forward to blogging about our puppy adventure and sharing pictures.

Congratulations! One day to go!

I'm glad you are looking at insurance. I have had it on my doodles for several years and even thought about canceling because they are "never" sick. Then Kona got an infection in his tail and after treating had to have it amputated. This was a minor expense as vet expenses got, but boy am I glad we had insurance. It's just wise these days.

Enjoy your pup and post photos for us!

Good luck with the new puppy!!!   There are many good companies and several discussions from the past on the subject so I won't take up space here.  I will give one piece of advise.  While researching, be sure and pay close attention to the pre-existing condition clause (what they consider pre-existing and how long it lasts) and how the deductible works.  Is the deductible per condition or per policy year, etc.  When we were looking, I found this site and it was helpful. http://www.petinsurancereview.com/dog.asp,    It does not tell you everything but answers some basic questions and has links to company websites.  Good luck with the new family member

I know how excited you are, we will be picking out our puppy on August 10th and bringing her home on the 24th. I, too, have also been shopping for pet insurance and have been spending way too much time in stores just looking around at toys, bowls, beds, collars, etc. I am just so excited! I can't wait to see your new baby!

How exciting and you are in for lots of fun, love, hugs and oh yes, the puppy challenge:)  There is nothing like a Doodle puppy in the home and your children will be in "awe" of their new little friend!

I have used my insurance a ton and the service has been great.  I use Embrace Pet Insurance.  You can build your own policy and that determines how much you will spend.  Be careful...some are where you pay the deductible and it is only good for that particular injury or sickness.  A month later if something else occurs you have to again pay a deductible.  Embrace I just satisfy my deductible once and it is good for a year.  I happen to have a $500 deductible so my montly payments are low.  I have saved a ton of money by having insurance!!!!  I did extensive research at the time and Embrace was my decision.  I actually called the top three of my choice and asked lots of questions and "what ifs" questions.  That is how I found about about reoccurring deductibles.  It isn't mentioned on the websites.  Also...pre-existing conditions is another factor.  You will be fine with new pups because they won't have any.  Get the insurance before they do though!!!!!  Congratulations on the new "kids".  You are going to be busy but there is nothing better than Doodles!!!!

You can get good advice about insurance here.  There are several companies that are recommended by people who have used the insurance.
