It's that time of the week again folks!
Penny has had her surgery for the spaying and removal of her dew claws, and she is very well. No trauma whatsoever!
On Monday, I decided it would be a good idea to give Penny a bath as I knew it would be a couple of weeks before we could give her one, see below:
She actually enjoys a bath, the expression on her face is a ruse for all you onlookers, in fact while I was running the bath, Penny had her front paws over the edge of the bath looking in and tried to drink the water coming out of the faucet. What a class act!
Then a quick towel dry, and a good brushing, then Jeri found her tickle spot which turns Penny into a complete gibbering idiot:
And a close up!
When we picked Penny up from the vets, they told us she was fantastic and totally adorable. This pup takes everything in her stride. While we were paying for the surgery we decided to buy a six pack of Advantage flea stuff too, and I asked the assistant if we need to apply it during the winter months? She answered that some people do and some don't...very helpful! Anyway while I was asking, Jeri was saying to the other assistant that daddy had missed his little girl that day, and the assistant I was talking to (obviously not really getting the gist of the conversation) said, "Do you want some Advantage for him too?" I looked into her eyes and said "She's talking about me!" Never seen someone go bright red so quickly...very funny!
When we got home, Penny immediately got up on the pet couch and went to sleep, see below, her little red ankle bandages are very fetching aren't they?:
She spent the rest of the day sleeping for an hour at a time, moving to another location and sleeping again:
A very quiet and subdued day was had by all. We still haven't had to take any major steps to stop her chewing her stitches as we are with her all the time, we just say "No!" and she stops. We'll see how long that lasts, we do have a lampshade on standby just in case.
Yesterday Penny dropped one of her chews by Jeri's feet, Jeri picked it up and threw it about six feet away and Penny couldn't find it. Jeri took hold of Penny's face and pointed her in the right direction and said "You know, your nose ain't good for nothin' but keeping your eyes apart!"...I love that lady!
Lastly, today is Jeri's birthday, and I thought what better for Penny to celebrate her birthday than by showing her that she's over the surgery by doing a happy dance:
Until next week...Kevin, Jeri and Penny!
