It was a long weekend so I went home to Portland to see my parents... of course Remington went along since I didn't want him home alone for up to 16 hours while Dan worked. We left around 7 on Thursday evening. Remington did wonderful on the car ride (he always does) and was so happy to see new faces when he arrived at my parents home. We got out of the car and started playing right away outside to relieve some of that built up energy!

The rest of the weekend he was unusually quiet... I'm not sure if he missed Dan a whole lot or if he was not feeling well since he is cutting teeth and seems to be in pain. He laid around all weekend and slept which is very unlike him since he enjoys playing with his toys. Every time he picked up a toy and chewed on it his little mouth would start bleeding. I swear I found 4 teeth on the floor in just one weekend. I feel so bad for him because I know if must hurt. Any suggestions on how to sooth gums would be appreciated as he is just not himself.

Once we got home to Indy he was looking for his Dad (Dan) who I knew he was missing! Up the stairs he went right when we walked in the house... and into his Dad's arms! His tail was wagging so hard he could hardly stand up straight. I know that Dan was just as happy to see him! This seemed to better Remington's mood a bit even though he still seemed to not be feeling the greatest. We took him to the ball diamonds after we had dinner and played ball with him. He loved it and could not wait to go. It is so fun to see him running faster and noticing how much more agile he is becoming as he grows.

Dan and I soon began discussing getting him clipped short. We had been trying to put this off, but he just seems miserably hot and we really thought a good hair cut would help out. So Monday is the day when his beautiful locks will be gone at least for the summer. I will miss them since I love the way he looks and feels right now, but I really think he will feel so much better.

On Tuesday of next week we are then off to Ohio to spend the week with Dan's Mom and Dad at their lake house on Buckeye Lake. We are so excited for this vacation together! Dan and I both need a break and Remington seems to love his time there since there is another dog (Buster) who lives next door. I think that this might be Remington's first time swimming too... so we'll see how that goes... but I'm sure I'll update you on all those happenings later!

It was a wonderful 4th... hope everyone enjoyed their doodle as much as I did mine :)

for teething...I found in our store what looks like a dumbbell with little nubby things on it...but you can unscrew the top of it and fill with water and freeze it...Mine love to play with it all the time and they are past teething..cool for the summer.

I bet your parents love Remington! I want to take Abby to the field or ball diamonds to play fetch so she can really run---I need to get over my fear of her running and keeping right on going out of sight. I wish there was a big fenced field somewhere here - theres not LOL! But I am going to start soon, the best way to get over my fear of escape I guess.

Crushed ice and cold baby carrots for chewing on.

I think you will be very happy when Remington gets clipped. I did NOT want to clip Fozzy Bear, but decided to do it before his neuter, and before it got too hot. Now, I am not sure if I will let his coat get real long again. I think this shorter cut shows his beautiful face more, and it is SOOOO much easier to brush. Especially now, since he is getting his adult coat! He is getting his first matts. I don't know if it is so much due to the coat change or all the swimming he just learned!!! OMG - he just loves to swim! I am a little nervous about letting the boys throw the tennis ball too far out. But he is doing great. I think he knows his limits. He swallowed water one time and began coughing. He immediately turned back to shore, got over the gulped water, and went back out to retrieve the ball.

You could see if he would chew on a frozen carrot.

You can try wetting, then wringing out a washcloth, tie it in a knot and freeze it. I have heard that it works really good. Gus and Molly are getting ready to lose their teeth, their gums are swollen, but they don't seem to notice it at all (keeping my fingers crossed)! I hope you all have a wonderful vacation next week...sounds like a lot of fun!
