Last evening Dan and I went to the Dog Park around 7ish. There was a good amount of dogs in there when we arrived. I had a ton of reading I needed to do for class so I decided that I would sit out on the bench outside the park and read while Dan was in there with Remington... well... that didn't work out to well because my little Remington kept sticking his nose through the fence as if to say... "Mom, come in here with us!" Of course I put down everything I was doing to go spend some time with my family :)
When I walked in I noticed right away another doodle, white in color and curly. Her name was Cassy and her Mom and Dad were wonderful. We chatted with them most of the time we were there learning about Cassy and telling them about Remington. We were all surprised at how attached Remington and Cassy were to each other. They were the best of friends right from the start... playing with each other, going to get drinks of water together, laying down for a break together. It was as if no other dog existed in the park except for them.
We ended up leaving around 8:30 because we needed to hit the grocery store... but we took the time to watch Cassy do some swimming in the retention pond near the park. I'm sure Remington would have loved to go too, however, we were not prepared for a soaking wet dog. He had fun though which made us smile.
It is so interesting to me how doodles just seem to know if the other is a doodle too. I have never seen Remington so absorbed in another dog. And they just played so well together. What a wonderful time he had... we will hopefully get the chance to see Cassy again soon... as well as her doodle mom and dad (Peggy and Jeff)!
