Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

All the little flags have been placed in the yard as yesterday they installed the invisible fence. Now it is training time. The installer, Brian felt that Cali will do very well with the new containment in the yard. However, her biggest challenge will be Lucy, the lab puppy who lives behind us. Cali likes to visit her, so this training will probably be the most difficult as Cali will need to learn she can not just run over there anymore. We will still have to have play dates as they are the best of friends right now.

I wasn't home when the installation was taking place, my DH was here to take part. Cali being a 'girl" doodle is usually not allowed to have pink collars, bandanas etc as my DH says he does not want to walk her if she is sporting pink gear. So everything is red, red collars with a little bit of girly designs. They have to be preappoved by the DH. LOL. It has to be a man thing anyway her new "fence" collar is pink. A very bright PINK. I noticed it right away and I asked the DH how we ended up with the pink collar since I know how he feels about it. He said it was his concession to me. LOL I see, it is ok for her to wear pink in her yard but red whenever we go anywhere. I thought it was pretty funny.....

We have been working with Cali everyday. She is not consistent yet, sometimes it seems she understands and not cross, and then other times she just crosses the line. We will keep working with her and I think it will be well worth it. We only have a third of an acre, but it is plenty for her to run and play, as she loves to be outside.

You will love the Efence. . ..just be diligent with training. We have 10 acres, but no fencing at the road and no way to really do it because the creek runs down there and it goes under the road, so they could get to the other side that way even if the fence was up down there. Anyway, we have had great success with the Efence. Tallulah, my 11 month old doodle, was the hardest to train. For one thing, we had to cut her bangs because we realized that she couldn't see the flags. . .and then Tallulah is very skiddish to strangers and any odd objects around her. . .so it was very hard for our installer/trainer to work with her. . .but, we finally got it and it has been a lifesaver. . .the dogs can go out and just play to their hearts content even if I can't. . .and Tallulah loves to be outside.

Hehe I still sneak in a few 'girlie' things.... he doesn't always notice and I just don't say anything.

My DH doesn't say anything about the collars as long as the leash is black. Easy compromise. Girlie collars and bandanas!

It is a guy thing. Good luck with the fence training. Riley is on week 2 and is doing great except where the fence crosses the driveway and there are no flags. He is finding that a little confusing.
