All along I really believed Cali was super intelligent and she could learn anything really quick. That was my belief until we had this invisible fence installed. It is my fault as Cali always wants to be where I am no matter what, she is a super spoiled dog. So I have overindulged as I believe no one will ever mistreat her again. But she got shocked again today and I can't take it anymore. We have taught her the perimeter over and over again and though it seems she gets it, she will get excited and run the fence. It tears me up every time. Today I stopped her in the nick of time and twenty minutes later, I saw her making the same move and I couldn't move quick enough and she got shocked once again. My commands of Stay and Stop did no good, even when I was saying Stay, Stay, Stay, STAY as I was trying to get to her as I saw what was happening. We don't let her get too far from us and we are always in the yard with her, but as we are playing or just goofing off with her, suddenly she gets too close to the line. Many times she knows when to stop but then there are other times she just takes off... what are we missing.... I want to protect her that is why we did the invisible fence but I don't want her to get hurt (or shocked)...

Did you ever end up being able to get her trained with the electric fence? I am having the same problems right now and just don't know what to do. Cali is a total doll! I love the picture laying on the couch :-)

The collar possibly could have too much of a delay between the beeps and the correction. For puppies they start out with a 3 second delay, and I quickly found out that it was not going to work for Riley. In 3 seconds he was through it and across the street before 3 seconds were up. I have it set on a mild correction but it is immediate with the beep. Eventually as he gets older I will readjust it for the beep and then the correction.

It really just depends on the dog and his personality to where you should have it set. I have had the invisible fence with 2 previous dogs for over 10 years and that system is still working(at my ex's). It is trial and error but don't give up your pup will learn it.

We are installing one now. We bought the Sport Dog Brand. It has different levels, as some dogs do not need as much to keep them from crossing. The first correction level just has a beep and vibrate and the other 4 have different levels of static correction. Yes I would put the flags back up. The instructions say that sometimes you have to do that. I know a number of folks that have them and the dogs stay in thier boundaries. I would make sure it is not defective and double check the settings on the level you are using.

The flags are all still up, as we are still working with her as to where the boundaries are. She seems to understand that the flags are off limits and for the most part stays clear of them. We also keep her on a training lease and there are many times that I stop her or she knows when to stop. But there are still those few times that she just seems to forget all her training, commands and runs it. Usually it is when she gets excited and is running, I wonder if she is going so fast that she isn't hearing the warning beeps in time, I don't know, I have pondered everything I can think of. The collar is already set pretty high, so I really don't know how many options we have there. We too are limited on putting fences up, so I am really hoping this works but I am having my doubts.

We have a 5 month old labradoodle and our invisible fence was installed when he was 4 months old. We do have the new digital system meaning that the collar has around 25 settings. Having a puppy concerned me but the setting was placed according to puppy age and it is not a shock. It is more like a static charge. Echo is a real drama king and I can tell that it doesn't hurt him. It just makes him move back into the boundaries. We are not allowed to have fences here so I love it as he can still run around off leash. BUT we still have the flags up as I noticed that he looks where the flags are so he has figured out where the boundaries are. I leave them up for his visual cue. I am always with him in the yard and I recall only 2 corrections in the month it has been up. I also suggest putting the flags back up for visual cues and invisible fence recommended to me to keep one flag up in each corner of the yard for a much longer time for a visual cue. I would also have the company come back out to re-adjust the collar settings.

We have the invisible fence with no problems. I would suggest that you put the flags back up so she has a visual clues as to where the boundaries are.

We are calling Monday. My husband tested the system yesterday and everything seems to be working fine. We just seem to be a bit befuddled as we work with her everyday, but I just feel we are missing something...

Hmmm...I don't have any experience with invisible fences. I'm so sorry it's not working and hope someone with more experience can advise. In the meantime, have you called the manufacturer? Could there be a problem with the system?
