Everyday the bus stops in front of our house and picks up about 4 grade school kids who live on our street. Every morning at about the same time, I am getting ready to leave for work. I take Cali out right before I leave for that one last potty break before DH comes home. The kids are out there every morning waiting on the bus, Cali watches them get on the bus and is never really bothered by them. All along I really believed Cali was super intelligent and she could learn anything really quick. That was my belief until we had this invisible fence installed. It is my fault as Cali always wants to be where I am no matter what, she is a super spoiled dog. So I have overindulged as I believe no one will ever mistreat her again. All the little flags have been placed in the yard as yesterday they installed the invisible fence. Now it is training time. The installer, Brian felt that Cali will do very well with the new containment in the yard. However, her biggest challenge will be Lucy, the lab puppy who lives behind us. Cali likes to visit her, so this training will probably be the most difficult as Cali will need to learn she can not just run over there anymore. A couple of nights ago, my dh and I took Cali for a walk. It was a nice night about 60 degrees (heat wave in Ohio) and we decided to sit on the deck outside. Now keep in mind we haven't had any opportunities since we brought Cali home to just sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. Since I don't know much at all of Cali's history, I tend to watch how she reacts to many things. When we first got her, she was so timid of so much. If I moved too quick, she would run and hide. We learned which things bothered her and reassured her over and over that it was ok. I have been slowly trying to introduce her to new things and for the most part she has been quite willing to check them out with lots of reassurance and knowing that either DH or I are right there never out of her… Continue

It was 42 degrees today in central Ohio. Cali has not had much excersise as it has been so cold, snowy and icey that we have been just going outside long enough for her to go potty and back into the house we go. So we decided we would go visit a dog park today to let her run if she wanted to.
