A few days ago Murphy came running into the house and he was mud halfway up his legs so I decided to give him a quick bath in the tub  because it was already dark outside and the Sandy hurricane came all the way here to Michigan and was causing rainy nasty weather problems ......so I put him in the tub turned on the water and the sand just poured out of his paws and he looked at me like "what the hell is going to happen now" so I had a bucket but he is just too big to wet down with a bucket as I usually use a hose outside,  so I turned on the shower and managed to get him and me soaking wet and just kept turning him around and sweegying the water and soap off of him, it took a long time to get all that sand from the bottom of the tub and dry Murphy and clean up water all over the bathroom floor but it was all ok because now I have one clean 70lb puppy.

I am thnking of getting one of these booster bathes and use it in the basement during the winter http://boosterbath.com/products/booster-bath-large, You can find the large for $144,   if not I like Nicky's idea of just getting the hand held shower head and getting in with him.... sounds alot easier to me.

I find the easiest way to wash Riley (Boris is still small enough for the sink) is to get into the shower with him! I use the hand held attachment and it works fine.  I just take off my lower bits and he stands and lets me wash him until we are all done.  I have a big towel ready for him and one for me too.  This may be slightly unorthodox but it works perfectly. lol

I've not (yet) had the "pleasure" of showering with Sedona - hope I never have to!

@ Sue - shaking on command!  Now those are well-trained dogs!  I'm impressed!!

Love it!! Sadie is 80 pounds so I know all about the shower routine. My husband has actually hooked up a hot water line in the garage so we can hose her down therein the winter and avoid the "big shake". LOL.

The hand held shower heads are great for dog baths. I have one in the spare bathroom and use it all winter, as the water from the hose would be freezing. I have taught them that I am going to wrap a towel around them, walk them to the back door and they are going to wait to shake outside. That makes for a lot less mess in the bathroom too. Took some time, but they will shake on command now. Or not shake as the case may be. Otherwise we'd be flooded in our bathroom with these two mop heads

yes I do have to look into the hand held ones, I am just thinking it won't be long enough but I haven't really looked yet.

Our guys have been to the beach this week and they both get good and wet and then roll in the sand. I feel your pain. Do you have a hand-held attachment to your shower? It's a life saver for us.

LOL, sounds familiar. I took the boys to a different dog park that is all sand. Auggie was fine, but Monty found a ball and was digging a hole in the sand to hide the ball the whole time. He was covered in sand. Sometimes I'm worried that I'm going to plug up our tub with all the dirt flowing down the drain. White doodles are just a magnet to all the dirt!
