Today I had a swimming race with Java Joe Doodles, and guess who won! He did. Joe loves the water, and he swims daily. Today when I jumped in he bounded down the steps after me and swam fast to me across the other side of the pool. When he got to where I was in the pool I shouted, "Let's race!" and proceeded to race him across the pool swimming fast and furiously. He would glance sideways at me as I tried to get the lead. Joe was determined to beat me back to the steps, and he did. He won by a nose. He is a delightful goofy dog. This was his second really funny episode today. His first was at 3:30 a.m.

I woke at 3:30 a.m. and went to the kitchen to take ibuprofen for a headache. I let the dogs out before I took the meds thinking that may allow me to sleep in just a bit if they didn't demand to be let out as they do every morning at 5:30 a.m. After the brief visit outdoors we returned to the kitchen where I poured myself some milk and took the meds. I then realized Joe was missing. I could not find him anywhere. After calling him I heard him coming down the stairs wide open. He had a newspaper in his mouth. He had gotten the Saturday paper from the basket where we toss papers to recycle and had darted up the stairs to the two teenagers' rooms with the paper in his mouth. He usually takes the paper to my husband every morning, but this morning he decided to reward the two teenagers with a day old newspaper at 3:30 a.m.! Needless to say they did not think it was funny when he jumped on their bed and wagged that windshield wiper tail and thrust a newspaper in their sleeping faces. What a goofy, adorable, doodle!

I love it when they do their goofy stuff. Sounds like you have a competition on your hands. Better practice.

Some day those teenagers will love to tell the story of the time Java Joe brought them the old newspaper...........

I love the part when you said" he would glance sideways at you" -this is just like the swimmers do in the Olympics. Joe must have a competitive nature in him. "Doodle Olympics"- I'm sure he would qualify. Can we hold this swimming event in your backyard?
Secondly- I bet your kids will always remember the day he woke them up in the middle of the night shoving a newspaper in their face. Sounds like a very cute doggie you have there with lots of character. They are the best, aren't they?
