A heck of a week(really two weeks) and a new beginning

Wow, so much has happened in the last week, I have been truly stressed. My place of employment of 21 years informed us they were closing the doors on Friday the 22nd, they gave us 2 weeks to "finish things up" so really two weeks to fret about our situations. For me the issue was more sadness than worry, after all, I had a husband that could support me. The hardest thing for me was saying goodbye to our clients, which by the way we were unable to do because of Franchise rules. I of course had a few friendships formed and was able to give a heads up at least but no details. As you can imagine, not an easy time.

Then Daisy's cataract diagnoses was the end of my week, finding out on Saturday at her wellness visit.

The upside of these two things:

I got a job offer today from an interview I had on Wednesday. An opportunity that just fell from the heavens. I have accepted. The downside of this will be that Daisy can no longer come to work with me :o(. I am pretty sure she will be okay as I have many neighbor friends that want to step in. When I told a couple last Friday of the situation the first thing he said was "looks like we will be getting the best of two worlds, Daisy can be ours from 9-5 and they get the other shift...+ we don't have to pay for her or the have the cost of having a pet, all of the joy". So 3 couples here will have total access to Daisy. It will take some getting use to on my part and hers but we will be okay.

And I am happy to report that it looks like PetPlan will pay for her operation minus the deductible so we will be proceeding with that soon. In the mean time the Vet has prescribed drops for her eye to slow down the formation of the cataract.

Today is a happy day but I have got to say...I AM EXHAUSTED from all of this worry. Wake me in a week.

Lisa, will this new job allow you some DK time during the day?  :)

Lisa, So glad about your job offer and boy, was that quick. Maybe down the line Daisy can go with you to work again. What nice and kind neighbors you have and I am sure everyone will adjust with time. Daisy might even like extra walks and her "retirement". I am so glad you elected to have the surgery and PetPlan is paying :) YAY for pet insurance. We hope we never need it, but it is nice to have it if we do. I hope this new job is exciting for you and you love it even more than your last job! Good luck!!

Great news on both fronts. You are so fortunate to have such nice and available neighbors.

Thanks everyone, I am nervous but about not having her with me....the good thing is I will be leaving for work before DH and he is the one that has to look at that adorable face and say "you have to stay here Doodle, Mommy will be home before you know it" Ugh, just thinking about it makes me sad :o(.

Handing out garage door codes tomorrow. Another neighbor was out walking her dog tonight while Daisy and I were out, she asked when my last day was and I said it was Friday but starting a new job Monday and she said "do you need me to take Daisy out for walks?" Amazing!

I, too, feel so loved when my family and friends offer, out of the blue, to watch my Doodle-bug. It makes me happy that they volunteer and I don't have to beg, and that he has a great time getting love and attention from someone else for awhile.

So many changes!  Glad to hear all will work out--how great to have friends longing to care for Daisy!

Lisa,  I'm happy to hear things have worked out in such a positive way for you.   I hope this new job is the best thing to have happened for you.    Sounds like Daisy's going to have a wonderful social life!   Hope her cataract surgery goes well.      Sounds like it's time to put your feet up and have a nice glass of wine!

I'm so happy to hear that there really is light at the end of your tunnel.  Life is always so full of "ups and downs".

I am glad everything is working out for you Lisa.  Isn't it comforting to know that so many others love your dog and want to have her in their homes?  Hope the surgery is smooth sailing and the job change makes you think "I wish I had done this years ago."  (That is what happened to me.)
