It's been a week since dear Ember has been home! I am just so excited that she is here.
There have been lots of good things:
- usually sleeping well during the night without whining (most nights have been asleep by 11 and waking up at 6:30 am with no get-ups...except the past two nights)
- meeting the other dogs in my family
- 'sit' command is going really well, even without a treat. ('down' has to be motivated by a treat, but she's learning)
- super social and excited about people
- getting better about biting with me (still need to work with others though)
- she is so stinkin' cute!
- settles down pretty quickly when I put in her in her crate during the day. I need to work more on this because I will be going back to work in a week.
Some sad/frustrating things:
- two nights ago Ember got diarrhea in her crate in the middle of the night. her digestion hasn't been the same since... I just feel awful about it and don't know what the problem is. For the past two days she has been eating well, is super lively, drinks plenty of water... but hasn't pooped during the day at all. Last night she pooped a TON and then was up every two hours to go out and poop again (turned to diarrhea in the middle of the night). :(
- my patio area where we spend a lot of time outside is all gravel and these little rocks have become Ember's favorite thing. She's good about letting me take them from her, but I realllllly wish she wouldn't pick them up at all! I bring out toys and am engaging with her, but she's always going back to the rocks.
- a couple potty accidents in the house, but we're working on it.
Even though I'm definitely exhausted after the past two nights of poop issues, I am so happy she is in my life! SUCH a sweetheart.

Poor poopy baby-hope it gets better soon!
She's adorable
It sounds like you're doing really well with Ember! I am especially envious of the sleeping all night. Sadie didn't do that until she was about 17-18 weeks. Sadie also loves to chew on rocks. I like Traci's suggestions a lot--both the bitter apple and teaching the drop it command. I always take treats when Sadie and I go into the yard and tell her "drop it!" if she grabs a rock. I think she considers it a game now, but that's fine with me as long as she drops the rock!
She's eating Premium Edge, which is what the breeder had fed her. We went the vet 2 days after she came home and things digestively were going okay. She was having some soft poo but not diarrhea. Vet said that it would be normal under the stress and that if it happened for longer than a week to bring her back in. I'm calling on Monday to get her checked out re:parasites because it seems so odd to me that she suddenly got this diarrhea attack. It happened again last night (although we made it outside each time). Thanks for the support!
