I'm bummed. I have to go a whole week without my puppies. I haven't been away from them for more than a day since I got them. I am not a happy camper! We are sneaking off to Vegas on 10/17 to get hitched and we can't take them with us as we are flying. I have checked out several kennels.....yuck. I hate boarding! (Although we will be taking them to Florida at Christmas....can't wait!!!! Christmas day is my Sheba's 1st birthday!) Does anyone know of an home pet sitter around Lima, OH? I know it's short notice but we put the wedding on hold for a little while....doctors orders. Now my doctor says its OK to go. So my original plans for my puppies fell through and I am left with boarding. Any ideas anyone?

Hi everyone, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I apologize for the delay in my reply but I have been soooo busy.

Jane, I have a kennel lined up. They do have doggie day care but because my doods don’t attend day care on a regular basis they cannot attend. They said they will put them out 6 times per day in a run for exercise and potty breaks which is more time out of the kennel than the other places locally. Bad thing about this place is it has stones in the run and not cement. My Sheba eats stones!!!! I have to buy a muzzle to prevent her from eating stones, I don’t really want to put a muzzle on her but it’s for her own safety.

Bronwen, because of our busy schedule we won’t be taking our puppies. But I will make a note about pet airways for future reference. There is always a chance we may fly to Florida for Christmas instead of driving.

Joanne and Hannah & Honey’s mom, thank you so much for taking the time to post the links for pet sitters. I was unable to find a provider close to me that was able to provide the care I needed for my dogs either in their home or mine. One of the people I contacted would have worked except they couldn’t cover all days I needed. Unfortunately with such short notice it just didn’t work out. I will put the links for petsit etc. in my favorites!

Lucy and Sophie’s Mom, WOW that is such a nice offer! I’ll contact you personally to chat.

No Barb, I don’t have any family that can take care of my dogs during our trip. That fell through. I know you would help me out if we lived closer as I would you! Good grief, could you handle 5 doods???? I am really looking forward to taking them to Florida. There is a dog beach really close to where we will be staying! Yea!

Linda, Yankee and Finn, we will be in the Bonita Springs Beach and Naples area on the Golf side. I would love to get together if it works out! We will probably be there for 10 to 12 days. (I think there is 2-3 hours driving time between us when in Florida.)

Thank you all for the well wishes for my upcoming nuptials! And Joanne…..NO ELVIS at my wedding! No way. lol

I am not familiar with boarding places in Ohio, and I realize it's probably to late for this (and perhaps too expensive) but have you heard of pet airways? A flight option just for pets so they don't fly cargo. Anyway, congratulations on your wedding and good luck finding someplace to board your pups--I hope you find a really great place for them. Hopefully somewhere near you that board will also have a day care option--when we had had to board our pup we take him somewhere like that, and he has a great time playing the whole time we are gone!

I can't help you with your sitting problem but I am going to Florida for Xmas too! Maybe we can get together with our doodles. I will be staying at a house in Kissimmee. Where are you staying?

Check with Pet Sitters International, you can do a search by zip codes on their web site, also try NAPPS, Here are the links to their home pages. Both are good with pet sitters, bonded and insured..if you cant find one for your area, try the contact us on their sites and they will get back to you and help locate a sitter....

Ann ... We are in Southern Ohio, about 20 miles East of Cincinnati (From the 275 loop). Not sure if it is an option for you guys or not, but we would be willing to watch your doods at our home while you are in Vegas. We have a large fenced backyard (4' fence). We also have 2 Goldendoodles that are 1.5 years old. If you would be able to bring them down (see our place and meet us, make sure they get along with our girls) we would love to help you out! I am a stay at home puppy mom so I would be home with them most of the time. If you are interested send me a friend request and I'll respond with some contact info. Obviously leaving them in their own environment with a pet sitter would be best, but if you can't find someone we would be happy to help out.
