I was divorced the same year my daughter graduated from high school.  Not planned, not anticipated.  I realized  that my 27 year marriage would never hold up after my girl left.  Every day, all day it was about my girl, to give everything to her, no matter what.  I was stuck with the fact that once she left my marriage was a farce.   It has been a difficult 6 years since.  But, yesterday I had the best conversation in so many years,.  We spoke for nearly 2 hours on the phone.  I have been all about giving her space and time to decifer, her dad has had serious cancer, I've had my own issues.  But the best words were "Mom you sound happy, and I am so glad that you are happy now" My girl is back!  I'm the happiest mom ever~

I have an awesome daughter as well, 35 yrs old. At 18, she said to me " Mom, how did you know how to raise me, because I want to raise my children the same way" WOW! Will never forget that day.

What a wonderful Mother's Day gift you received.  My DH has a daughter from a previous marriage.  She was 14 when then split up - she took it as he divorced her and he couldn't get her to see it any other way.  She won't have anything to do with ANY of his family.  She is now 25 and she still hasn't let him back into her life.  But one of these days...we can only hope and pray.
