Monty won't swim in his wading pool anymore!

We have a child's wading pool that Monty (used) to love.  We were able to say to him, "go swimming Monty" and he would run off the deck and jump in his little pool.  It is almost always filled with water and he would jump in and out of it on a regular basis.  Ever since we went to the ocean, he won't even get in it!

The only thing I can come up with is that we went to the real ocean in July.  Of course we said we were swimming in the ocean and Monty loved it.  So much so that one day the folks that rented the upstairs apartment left the yard gate open and Monty ran off down the many, many stairs and decks to get to the ocean.  *We were perched on a cliff in Massachusetts.  

We have been home nearly 6 weeks and he will not go in the baby pool anymore.  :(    Additionally, if this makes any sense......... We have a play structure that includes a large sandbox left here by the previous owners.  AFTER our vacation, Monty has discovered how much he likes going in the sandbox.  Instead of walking in the grass to get to the other side of the yard, he always walks thru the sandbox.  No kidding.  

I've tried getting in and begging him to come in too.....nothing.  He simply walks away!  I mean really, are these doodles that darn smart?  Something he loved to do, does he have an attitude or what?

It sounds like to me that the wading pool is no longer good enough for him, now that he had a taste of the big water!  Wow, he must have had fun on that vacation!  The sand most likely reminds him of the ocean.  Geezzz, I guess these doodles can be hard to please.  I guess you'll have to move & find a place on the ocean (after the hurricane of course)...
