Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Well, we are still living out in the country, preparing to move. Darwin is loving all of the extra people and space of course, and I think he's going to be sad when we leave. The funny thing about it is that there is so much space and places for him to run free but we never let him because he gets so filthy. Not to mention matted and covered in burrs. His coat is just terrible for this type of environment... like velcro.

So, now that spring has come I decided to get him shaved really short so he could run, swim and explore to his hearts content. (also I was getting sick of his wet stinky beard LOL) The haircut is about 1/4" and I asked for 1/2" to 3/4", but I don't even mind. It will take longer to grow out this way, and he seems to be loving it. He's been very frisky... LOL

Here is the most recent photo I could find of him before the haircut. It was taken 3 or 4 days ago during my SIL's b-day.

Here are some photos I snapped of him yesterday. It was a shock for all of the in-laws when they saw him, they didn't recognize him. There is now proof for everyone who doesn't believe me: He isn't chubby!

I forgot to mention - don't you just love that velveteen feel?  When Gavin is cut short I can hardly keep my hands off of him.

Darwin says "I'm sexy and I know it (yeh, I work out)"

I agree that he looks so handsome with his new clip.  What a super picture the last photo is--classic.  He must feel as soft as velvet.  Hope he enjoys his new-found freedom.

Darwing looks so handsome with his new doo :)   I have been debating whether to cut my doodles down for the summer.  Oliver being black gets so hot to the touch when he is in the sun.  I don't keep him ouside that long in the sun and he is such an outside type of guy too.  I'm wondering how long it will take for Darwin to grow back his hair to the pre-cut length?  Both my doodles are such dirt magnets.. you would not believe the things I have pulled out of their hair - LOL

I think Darwin looks great! I have done this twice with Knox so that when it grows out, it's all consistent. It prevents the "bauble head" look that we've had before.

OMD, Darwin, where did you go????

He is really a beautiful dog, with long hair or short hair.

Your groomer did a fantastic job!  So even and his face looks great.  I love that collar too.  Nice physique Darwin!

I understand not recognizing him. But I just love seeing that wonderful face and soulful eyes. Not one ounce of fat on this boy either! He looks great. I admit I would be terrified to do this to my doodles.
