Are we normal???

So DH and I were getting ready for work this morning, just chatting away with Taquito and Peri (seriously talking to them) and he asks me "Are we crazy? Do you think we talk to our dogs too much? Do other people do this?". I just laughed and said I am sure other people do and he agreed.

But really, how often do you talk to your dogs? Are we over the top because we don't have human children yet? Will this all change?

A typical morning convo with Lady Peri & Tacky goes like this:

Me: Morning Lady Peri - are you excited to go outside today?

Peri: yawwwn....stretch.....sigh.....

Me: Oh Taquito it's a hard life for you - you're just a little guy in a big world - ready to go outside?

Tacky: comes out from under the covers, yawns and grins...

Me: You're the best dogs in the whole world.

DH: Yes you are - we ruv you! Let's go outside choodle...

Peri and Tacky: run to front door together full of smiles.

Seriously, this happens more often than it doesn't. I can't believe I am admitting it! Then again I guess no one is "normal" - at least we love our dogs and are good "parents". Hehe.

My DH and I talk to our dogs and make up their answers all of the time. Sometimes we even talk in a voice that we believe would be like our doodles' voices. Mostly they just talk back with their eyes and head tilts (so cute). It's completely normal. But then again my parents have always talked to their dogs so I've never known any different.

You mean to say it's NOT NORMAL to talk to your dogs? Murphy listens better to me than my children ever did. :)

Joyce, that is so true about the clothes. Max knows sneakers = walks and races around like crazy!!

There are a couple of friends of ours that think we're little crazy because we spend so much time with our Doodles. But, we're both retired and they keep us active. We also must SPELL certain words, especially if we are going out for awhile they get all crazy. Of course we can't fool Guinness, he will actually come up and smell the clothes that you put on for the day, to see if you are going out or staying home.

Talking to Shelby keeps us "Normal" Who doesnt talk to their loved ones. Sandy B. is so right...Must S P E L L out words to keep her from getting the scoop. Please Be NORMAL and talk to your Doods!

We are all NORMAL, normally nuts about our doods of course :) :) :)

Of course we are NORMAL! It is all the other people out there that are not! ha ha My DH and I carry on conversations with Gracie Doodle all the time. We even put the phone to her ear when one of us calls home. One of our conversations will be "Oh you are such a beautiful baby, I love you so much" (being said by my DH to Gracie) and I will reply "Oh thank you...I love you too!" pretending that he was saying it to me and not Gracie. We also do a good job telling each other what Gracie is saying or what she wants. She just told us tonight that she wants to do something really fun this weekend...a family outing! This would be a very quiet house with very little talking if Gracie were not here! I even will whisper sweet things to Gracie in the middle of the night when I can't sleep! and...we all are totally normal!

Well I guess we are not normal around here either, we talk to both of ours just like we would talk to our human kids, Both my husband and I do this all the time. Our children are grown, and married, but they talk to their dogs too...But then again maybe we ARE the normal ones, lol...

If talking to Max is crazy, I'd much rather be crazy than normal!!! DH & I both talk to him all the time and sometimes we actually spell words because i swear he understands a few of them like walk and bye-bye (car ride) :-) What I notice when we're talking is he'll look back & forth between me & DH like he's following the conversation. It's so cute, his little head goes back & forth or if he's laying down you can see his eyes move.
