Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

It's been almost a year now since we got Banjo and in that time he's been our constant companion..traveling, vacationing, etc.   In a few weeks we will need to be away for a couple of nights and won't be able to have Banjo accompany us.   We found a wonderful woman who owns a 30acre horse farm.  Three acres are fenced just for her dogs.  In addition to "doggie daycare" she also will take 2-3 dogs at a time overnite.   The dogs are not kenneled at all and are free to sleep where ever they choose.   They are welcomed up on her furniture to watch TV in the evenings and pretty much have freedom in most of the house.  We Banjo over to her place to visit one afternoon a few weeks ago and he took right to her and her two dogs.

We're doing a "trial run" tonite to be sure this will work out.   I just dropped Banjo off, along with his blankie and crate (at home he will only sleep downstairs in his crate) and his food.   I will pick him up tomorrow afternoon after I leave the office.   I know this will be easier and way more fun for Banjo than for me.  OMG.......my house is so empty!!!!    I have no one to talk to.  I have no one to snuggle.  I have no one to play outside with.  I have no one to chase around the living room to get whatever that is in his mouth out. (This morning it was the Netflix DVD envelope which I had to mail back....sorry Netflix....little bit chewed up).   What's a doodle mom to do???

Lucky DH.....guess he'll have an extra snuggly Valentine's Day!

I'm sure all went well....

This is so funny, and yet so heartwarming to know I'm not alone.  There ARE others obsessed with "leaving" their doodle.  However, it will remain "our" secret (as none of my local friends or family understand).

Loved that you shared this with us. Our boy Louie is 18 mos. old and he has never slept away from us. I know it will have to happen soon. I hope to find a place like you have found.

Picked up Banjo about an hour ago and all is well.   He seems to have enjoyed his stay and must have had lots of fun playing with the other dogs....he's fast asleep in his bed as I write this.   I'm so pleased to have found this place!   Now, when we have to leave him we can do so with confidence knowing that he'll have a good time and we won't have to worry about him.    As for not having him here at home with us last night....well we missed him like crazy....but I have to admit...it was sort of nice to be able to leave socks and shoes, etc. anywhere we wanted and know they'd be there when we returned!   Back to being "neat nicks"!

That sounds like a truly great arrangement, I wish I could find a boarding place like that! I bet Banjo will have a ton of fun running and playing with pups!
