Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

HI everyone, it's been awhile. Lots going on and no time to keep up. So I was off work quite awhile before finding a new job, lots of doodle time, extra yard play, walks and potty breaks. Then it happened...I got a job at a hospital and had 2 weeks before I actually started. I spent a lot of that time snuggling with my girls, they were used to having me around all day and then all of a sudden they are alone all day long. I leave in the morning and I see Chloe poke her head out the blinds (mostly shut due to the hot weather) and she watches me drive away. It kills me inside! Just want to turn around and take them with me! Anyway, emotional rollercoaster, to be honest I cried all night the day before I started. DH thought I was "EXAGGERATING" I wish I was.

So I spend my first day in orientation and couldn't check my cell phone messages. I get out and find 3 messages from my mom saying she called an ambulance (again) and was in the ER. So here we go again, happy to have started my job, scared for my mom and asked why now? Why not when I was off to help her? She had to have a blood transfusion (anemia) and they told her she would be admitted because she has congestive heart failure. Let the worry and stress begin. I could not miss any work, yet I was so worried about what was happening with her. So I had a full week of learning a new job, stopping by her house to feed her cat. Going to the hospital and finally coming home and trying to figure out all the notes I took that day. It's hard enough getting back into things without all these extras. Anyway, these are some of the main reasons I haven't been signed on for awhile. I always wonder what's happening on DK, but no chance to squeeze that in.

The thing that's getting to me is when I come home and find the doodles snuggling and watching movies with DH I get jealous. It's like they forgot about me:( plus all the stuff that needs to get done, takes more time away) Anyway, my mom was home after a week and she's "ok" Still trying to settle into a schedule and wondering if my doodles feel any of the things I am? I seriously don't know how a mom goes back to work after maternity leave. Am I Pathetic?

On another note, we finally found a new vet!!! We found a pretty good lump on Myla's tail and wanted to go somewhere new. I knew we were missing out while staying with our vet. I thought I was in another world! The Dr spent time with us, got down on the floor to pet both dogs! (Chloe came along to meet them and support Myla) He said it was a fatty cyst, doesn't seem serious but gave us an estimate if we want to remove it. He said it was "elective" so doubt Pet Plan would cover any of it. It doesn't seem to bother her, but we wanted to make sure it wasn't serious. The Dr. kept on saying what good shape our dogs have and how healthy they are. So for the first time I wrote a review and a thank you note to the vet. It DID cost more, but totally worth it!

I look forward to bedtime to snuggle with my doodles! I hope I didn't miss too much, this weekend I'm going to try to look back and see what's happened. Thank you for the birthday wishes! What a bunch of cute doodles on the rescue page!

Congratulations on the new job and hope you settle into liking it a lot.  I am sorry about your mom.  Luckily for me, my mom waited until the week after I retired to need lots of care.  Not fun for retirement, but I certainly had the time to deal with it and don't know how you managed at all.  All the years I worked summer school while dh didn't, allowed me to understand your jealousy at coming home and seeing the dogs and dh relaxing.

Congratulations on your new job!  It may take a couple of weeks, but you will all settle into your new routine and you'll all be fine!

I was wondering where you've been, Jennifer. Sorry to hear about your mom, I'm glad she's feeling better now. I hope the stress will lessen now and you'll have an easier time settling in at your new job.

Don't worry about the doods. They have each other for company and they'll do just fine. They will not forget you, lol! In fact, they will probably appreciate you more now!

The new vet sounds great, glad you found him. JD has lots of fatty tumors, we just watch them, no need to remove them. So don't worry about that.

Welcome back! I hope you have a relaxing weekend catching up with us!

Jennifer, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. That must be so very hard. I can relate to the concern about leaving the doodles when you have been with them steadily for such a long time. It just sounds like your plate is over-filled right now. Hoping to hear you are finding a good balance with all that you face. Blessings.

I am so sorry....I feel like I can relate somewhat....not starting a new job but being in the hospital so much Jack though I am so grateful really has bonded with my mom.....but of course still loves me.

I am sorry about your mom.....I hate that..I hate worrying about put family members...I pray that our mom is done with her health problems and feels better.

I too found a new Vet....I loved my vet, we are just a bad combo....if she even suggested something was wro g with Jackwhich she did every time I brought him in, hundreds of dollars in testing and then more testing was done...... Mostly because I agreed.

Anyway things will settle down for you....you and the girls will fall into a routine soon!

Much love to you!

Wow, good with the bad as usual. Life sure can had it out sometimes.

The positive will out weigh the negative and eventually all will be in a new routine.

Glad to hear your mom is coming along and hopefully continues to do so.

I hope you like your new Job!

I'm sorry to hear of your mom's ailments. Hoping she is feeling better soon. As for the back to work thing I am feeling exactly the same! You are not crazy. I got duncan as a puppy when i was working from home. Then last april (he was 2) I started working 3 days a week. Well last month i went from 3 days to full time. It' KILLS me to leave him in the morning. I've been getting up an hour earlier to spend extra time with him before work but by noon i'm just dying to get home to him. And with my commute sometimes taking upwards of 1 and a half to 2 hours i go stir crazy sitting on the bus. As soon as I walk in the door and he greets me i feel 1000 times better. I would take him to work with me but the building that my office is located in doesn't allow dogs:( I keep thinking how i could put him in a carriage and maybe people will think it's an infant. HAHA!
