Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I travelled yesterday with a friend, her DH and daughter to collect the puppies. We were so excited on the way it felt like we were heading to the maternity hospital. We were both worried that we would get the 'right' puppies as the breeder sounds a little tired at this stage...12 puppies in the house would stretch anyone! We didn't have to worry. I recognized both puppies, (there were four left) as I had taken lots of photo's and had committed to memory the bits that had been shaved in case they lost their paper collars.
Both puppies were perfect on the three hour drive home with no incidents even though we had every conceivable possible travel issue covered and had bags of wipes, plastic bags, towels, water etc etc...
We introduced Riley and Boris outside the front of the house and that went fine. The weather here is awful, it's been raining non stop so the garden is like a swamp and I have now washed the floors seven times today. Not because Boris has had any accidents but because I have to go outside so often. He cried for twenty minutes last night before going asleep in his crate and I woke at 4 and took him out...he did a big wee wee and then it was straight back to the crate and he cried for ten minutes and back to sleep. I woke him at 6.30 and out we went again. He drank some water but wouldn't eat so I hand fed him a few pieces of kibble. At 8.30 I was so tired I took him back to bed with me and he slept with Riley at the end of the bed until 9.30.
Boris has been free feeding so It will take a few days to get used to a proper schedule. Today the crate training has been much better and as I write this he is asleep in it. Riley is lying outside looking in wondering if it's ok to wake him up. Boris is a sweet little fellow and so far today he has met six people and was happily wagging his little tail for all of them. He isn't mouthy either, so far lots of licking! So far he doesn't appear to be very food motivated but It's early days yet. He weighs 10lbs and I'm predicting he will be a big boy. Riley is going to be a great big brother, from what we can see so far. he keeps coming over for cuddles and kisses which we are giving him in spades. I'm amazed that it's possible to love a second dog a much as Riley but it's already happened. We are now officially a two doodle family.
