Contemplating Dog Tongues

Today being Saturday I took the opportunity to laze in bed a bit later than normal. The dogs thought it was a great idea too; after they had their breakfast of course. So after breakfast and a quick potty break everyone ran and hopped back in bed. After we all snuggled under the covers the pack decided that mommy might like a doggy bath. All 3 proceeded to give kisses, the beagles each took an ankle and Harlow decided my neck could use a good washing. That is when I began contemplating the different textures of each dog’s tongue. Sherlock’s tongue was very smooth and his kisses on the dry side. Baxter’s was smooth and wet. Harlow’s on the other hand were dry (as much as dog tongues can be dry) and her tongue a bit ‘sand papery’. Not as rough as a cat’s tongue but more like the smoothing side of a nail file.

Ok I think you were lulled into la la land! I love getting a foot bath. I just don't get it when people complain and hide their feet! It is a great pedicure, and alot cheaper. I've heard of going in for a foot bath with fish in the water to "digest" the dead skin. Why not a puppy pedi? Tickles too.

When Penny first wakes up in a morning, she starts to lick you and is so tired she doesn't give the action her full attention, so her tongue sticks to you, and she just stays that way for a few seconds, mouth open, tongue stuck to whatever part of you she was licking....funny stuff!

I took that opportunity too this morning, my day off. I don't get to do that too often. Lucy love's to give me a bath. My DH just said this morning how hot and rough her tongue his. Lucy has always been a licker.

Great graphic. The tongues do differ. Calla's is certainly rougher than Luca's. I love the go back to bed and snuggle time with them.
