Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Cooper got brushed one day, bathed the next day, then groomed today. I did the groom myself (its the second time Ive tried it) and I used scissors for it all. I used the videos from Royal Diamond Labradoodles as a guide for a puppy cut. Her front legs look a bit choppy, and I dont like her ears so short, but overall im quite pleased. She is about 1 1/2 inches long on the body and 2 inches long on the legs. It took me about an hour

Nicky - I should have mentioned, I do not shave between the eyes like they do in the video
Cooper looks handsome!! Great job!
Great job Kaytlin! She looks nice and all with scissors???
Great job, Kaytlin! You are very brave :)
Cooper looks beautiful!!
Yes I agree with her about the tummy area as I don't like that sweep up and also using my fingers as a guide. I don't like the way she does the face between the eyes but the mustache and beard worked fine doing it her way. I just use the thinning shears between the eyes. Riley also lies down a lot when I am grooming him but when I say stand he does stand! He used to be very difficult when it came to the front of his front legs but seems to be much better recently, he used to also be difficult to get to his paws but this is getting better too now, especially as treats follow!
A side issue is that I was lifting him onto the table and did my back some serious damage and spent a week unable to move on serious pain killers! Now my partner lifts him for me. He only stays still on the table and won't let me do him on the ground at all!
thanks Nicky, that was the look I was after. the trick (according to the videos) is to keep the tummy area a little longer so you dont get the sweep up into the waist.
Pam - I shut Cooper in a smaller room so she couldnt run away. Then I kept repeating the "wait" command and plied her with treats. She hated it, but let me do it. At the beginning when I was doing her face she wouldnt stand up so I did it with her laying down, somewhat on her side. I had to keep repeating the "up" command because she would lay wown every time I switched scissors or got a comb!
Maryann - I did it so fast because I wasnt too careful with the length - My thought process was that if I was leaving her fur a few inches long I had room to trim and even up a little at the end, though I didnt really need to. Last time I did it I too an inch off a time and it took me days! We move house today so I didnt have time to do that!
You did a great job on Cooper. I have been using those videos myself but only as a guide to scissoring and it is working out well here on Riley. Cooper has a very cury coat, he's a love bug. What I like is that he doesn't look shaved down and poodly, he still looks shaggy and puppyish.
Great job! I am impressed.
Excellent job! She looks great.
